So glad that I came on Thursday. I am new to this sound, and I fell in love at FW on Thursday. Such groovy, funky tunes that kept my body dancing all night.
F all you haters. Broaden your horizons, or peace. |

I also had a great time on Thursday! I'm really glad I came out of hibernation for that party. Tanner Ross himself, as well as his set, had tons of energy! His set was really enjoyable to dance to. Good, positive, happy vibes, all night. I'd def. check him out again.
It was also nice to go to FW and actually see some familiar faces again. The last couple of times I've gone, it's been depressing barely knowing anyone in the crowd. This time was completely different. I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in months. It def. brought out some 'old' FW regulars, which was awesome :D
Good times peeps! |

yeah i mean, it's been around for as long as electronic music has.
like anything, when a genre surges in popularity, it inevitably brings some degree of mediocrity with it(tune wise), but when it's done right, it's killer(like anything else done right mind you).
i can see why some people would find it boring, as it certainly can be, but like much of anything, finding the diamonds in the rough makes it all worth while.
as an aside, it's kinda too bad Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani didn't blow up just a bit later than they did - they'd be incredibly popuular right now, all things considered. nothing touches them in terms of quality for this kind of music. Environ or death! |
awesome post |

lol. it's true, people are surprised that certain types of music are back on the rise. if bell bottoms are back in fashion, then so can disco. |

Yep. Awesome venue. Someone should get something going like that here. I hear The Thompson Hotel has a rooftop pool. |

As wack as what?
The point I was trying to make was that a year ago, parties like this simply wouldn't have worked - due to the demand of tech house or harder music in general. There was a time when I couldn't play deep or modest tempo music even in a warmup set without people rushing to the booth to ask me if I had any Deadmau5. That doesn't happen anymore, and there seems to be more of an open-mindedness when it comes to this style of music.
Sure, I admit throwing out percentages and making all math class in here might have been "wack", but I stand by everything I've said in this thread..... wait for it.... 100% lol |

no, you're right
there is no way something like this could've happened a year ago as you'd probably be banned from playing a club ever again because you were "playing too slow". Thanks to certain toronto locals with a following this really took off and people were exposed to it on a larger scale. Again if it wasn't for them closest we'd hear this stuff would on some podcast online for the next 3 years until there was enough exposure. Also have to thank certain clubs that took the risk and brought it to life. |

| Little known fact about music: Everything you like is the bomb, anything you don't like must suck. Your opinion is fact. If you dislike something it means that it sucks. Anyone that does like it do not matter, they are just trend-following hipsters who say they like it for the sake of being ironic. |
