So if it was labeled japanesebukake.gif, would you call it that??
And did you really have to check the filename??

If you read it in a cockney accent it all makes sense.

Then perhaps your annoying fat brother should shut the up with his "KIDS THESE DAYS ARE DUMB LOL" , huh?
The quick move to personal attacks rather then actually responding in kind suggests that it is not only the kids that are dumb these days. You're bright enough to make a reasonable argument; I recommend you try that next time.

This actually isn't true according to every typesetter and layout expert I have spoken to (two of them plus and editor at Physical Review).

Yeah? Well I don't really give a . If your brother wants to make backhanded, antagonizing comments like "I thought you were smart...my mistake..." he should learn to get what he gives. Annoying douche. Your brother can claim whatever he wants, but all he does here is troll and antagonize. Playing the victim is really cute, but I don't buy it.

Jenny, why exactly would the American Psychological Association be considered the authority on writing style for anyone other then their members? I mean, it's the in' Psychological Association, not exactly the place one would naturally assume is the decision maker when it comes to the general use of English. Truth is there is no actual authority on such matters, it's all disipline specific. You can't throw out the APA's writing rules as if it's the be all and end all. Truth is some style guides call for one some call for two. Ultimately though, it's the expectations of the person reviewing the document that matters... it all comes down to knowing your audience.
Right so why's Chem stuck on two double spaces and saying "There's still some debate." I mean I get stirring up debate and taking the other side of an argument but if there's no authority on the matter why be a stickler?? Who gives a . Hence JPs position...I'd tend to agree w her in terms of specifics and only agree'd w Chem's initial response of the spacing after a period because I am still surprised by people not doing it.

I wouldn't say I'm stuck on the double space thing. I responded to one person and I even said it doesn't bother me in general typing but that in professional letters it should be.
Then Jenny said the APA says its one space. All I asked was if she knew what some of the other style manuals said. She decided to read to much into that and came back with a sly remark. Since then I haven't mentioned anything else about it.

Another appropriate response, name calling and all you annoying ing turd.

You may not like the fact that i will take an opposite opinion on something to help continue discussion of a topic but at least I respect the people on here by not resorting to your childish name calling.
Grow up
Playing the victim, check. Although I see playing stupid comes rather naturally to you as well.

Now kindly off.

Anyway, Stephen Fry had some nice thoughts on the matter:
ing spot-on, as usual, Mr Fry. As he would probably ask, how on earth does the lack of an additional space at the end of a sentence undermine its meaning? My main goal in communicating with someone is to be able to understand the substantive point/argument that they're making. I would only resort to pointing out the difference between the words 'disinterested' and 'uninterested', if I was desperate and had too much pride to admit that I was wrong about an issue!
I feel sorry for those poor souls who have nothing better to do in their lives than write to a newspaper and object to trivial grammatical errors. These people should spend more of their spare time trying to become happier - or maybe when they're on their deathbeds, looking back on their lives, they'll be genuinely glad that having had their one and only crack at the whip, their epitaph will read: "This person lived life to the fullest; he/she never let anyone incorrectly get away with using the word 'fewer', instead of 'less'."
