First BeB, not a trance or cheesy house music fan but wanted to give it a try! I had a very good night, arrived there at 11pm and stayed there until noon, and as I was expected, the vibe went WAY BETTER past a certain hour! Best time, vibe, with space to dance was like the 9am-noon slot!
I guess there were still a few thousand people at noon when the stoped the music.
Crowd was cool in general, not sketchy except a few people but seriously on 10 000 people, I was really impressed! also it was funny to see so many roids-douchebags.
I was thinking that the same event with some serious non commercial djs (seriously I heard a few tracks of tiesto or that guy avicii, worst cheesy sets ever), with the same setup could make something unreal!
Markus did a great job, I enjoyed also SvD, also the part of armand van helden set and also part of sultan and ned sets... Had in general a very good time! |

First BeB, finally no exams around this time! Got in line around 12, had to mass shove/push/slither around the chaos of the thorough security checking.Girls were waiting a little longer than guys I think as there were more male security and guys had less crap with them..about 30 mins not bad at all. Crowd was pretty good, good vibes lots of eye candy polite staff. Some costumes were hilarious and the girls with 6 inch heels..h-how??
Checked out Cosmic Gate first, definitely something I've waited a while to see. They didn't disappoint was generally pleased although Bossi and his moobs kept disappearing leaving Nic on the decks alone. Highlight was playing "This moment"for sure.
Went to check out Tiesto in the packeddd main room, were forced to leave after 15 mins due to our lactose intolerance. Then SVD who ripppped it apart, "Love is Darkness" was stuck in my head after that set. Nice powerful, consistent hard beats, he brought it again! Eventually went to check out Avicii, he played a lot of the same stuff nothing spectacular to report might have been better if we stayed for the whole set but meh.
Back to the trance room for A&B, was just poor bespectacled birthday-boy Pavo who had some technical issues but the visuals were great and the tunes were powerful, good stuff. Dipped back to the house room, Van Helden was funky and fun but I could hear the trance room from there :D Anyone else notice the sound system was not as strong in the main room?
Schulz tore a hole in my left ear. 2 words; Dirty and Dark. He went ape it was amazing, I could hardly keep up he obviously enjoyed playing whatever the hell he wanted to play 7 in the morning :D
Around 9 or 10 there were still a good amount of people hanging around, mostly reacting to various substances but moving all the same. Ned and Sultan were average as well, but better than most in that room, unfortch missed Yahel.
This was the clincher of the night for me , Ben ing Gold. I had no idea who the dude was before Beb, some guy who remixed a Tydi tune but now..WoW. We began walking away as he was starting from fatigue and hearing his intro turned around and were sucked right back into it :D Guy was hilarious to watch, he put his soul into his music and it showed. Hard hard trance, brought a crazzy amount on energy to the room. Tiesto may want to brush up on that particular skill. We had a chance to catch him as he was leaving unrecognized, really cool dude.
Overall nice vibes, nice crowd nary an ass chap here and there, and a killer trance room made up for the lackluster house oops I mean "main" room. Def will do it again! |

I didn't like it.
Tiesto was excessively bad, and the trance room had barely any trance at all, except for cosmic gate and above and beyond. Everything else sounded like progressive house :\ |

One of my friends got a hold of free VIP promo tickets for us at the last second and didn't even use his :p
Main room was very meh, Tiesto did better than I thought, playing along the lines of the catchy djs like Kaskade, Steve Angello, etc. I think I caught about 20 mins of it and a bit of Van Helden's, wasn't a big fan of what I was hearing from AVH.
If there were 10,000 it could also be because of the 'higher' ticket price this year. Only these peeps can undersell an event with Tiesto on the bill :p
In any case if they made more off VIP sales this year then maybe the revenues may balance out, I dunno.
Remember the days when VIP meant free T-shirt and CD? This year it meant being in line for almost as long as the regular one :whip:
Eventually people will figure out that you get pretty much the same massive now for half the wait and price, better music in the house room too (Black and Blue)
ps, best review goes to ANF so far :p
pps, checking the hockey score from Van game at 530AM was a massive buzz kill :( |

heres my review about it
set-up was cool except for the house room which was on the other side ... what the is the idea ? reduce space ?
i dont give a about vip .. the only good thing about them is that you can fill up your water bottle or go to the toilet 10x faster than a regular ticket.why wont they shut off hot water so that we can fill up water bottle in any toilet sink instead of waiting 20 minutes ?
6.50 for 1 water bottle. WTF ?
btw , the trance room was insane . SVD was better last year but in general every dj dropped the best trance they could and the crowd was on fire. Ben gold was just epic , my legs were completly ed and i kept on dancing to his epic tech trance. i went to the house room at 11:15 to search for a friend and realized it was sultan and ned shepard. they ing rocked , there was around 1000 people in the room so there was a lot of place to dance to their dark house beats with some nice visuals.
never know about freemasons but those 2 guys were totally sick , motivating the crowd and dropping some good tracks. armin van helden was pure garbage on my opinion ... he should play this crappy set at 10pm to warm up the crowd. |
