Picky eaters....

Something sparked my interest in this recently. I'm still baffled that some full grown men (aka 30+) are still picky eaters! Don't you know your tastebuds reform every 15-28 days??? All food should be delicious at this stage in life.... Or at least try it every few weeks... you're not 7 anymore! Thoughts????

What DON'T you like, and why... (since most of you are guys on this forum... but I'm also interested in what girls think)

ps. TA has been boring lately :o (also posted this on facebook. heh)

Let's share :p

I still don't like seafood. Or Sushi. Or fresh tomatoes. Or very herby tasting meat.

And yes, I continously try it. I did like tomatoes for about two years when I was in my late teens. I like calamari once. Same with Salmon. I do like Hooters clam chowder. But that's because it doesn't takes like clam chowder. more like potato soup. But it's damn good!
DaveT
yeah, water chestnuts are nasty

still not very excited about tomatoes. I usually order burgers without. Except those little cherry tomatoes. I like those. hehe :)

and yeah, most seafood (except fish and calamari). Tried shrimps, but I don't like their consistency.. :P

This is turning out to be Lindsay's nightmare. LOL

I used to be more picky as a child. Not anymore. I have a long list of food that I used to not like as a kid, but now appreciate and enjoy. People's palette definitely change with age.

I was never a picky eater, that was always a huge turn off from anyone who was

I don't like eggs sunny side up, or any type that has a runny yolk. It grosses me out. Funny thing is, I used to like them when I was a kid.

Not a big fan of fish. I still can't get used to the smell. Except mom's fish tacos. Those are bomb!!!

I used to love kiwi's, but now I'm allergic to them so I can't eat them at all. :(

Otherwise, I'll try everything at least once.

Lindsay, it's fine to be picky if the person has very good taste and doesn't settle for mediocre crap.

DaveT
But how does someone define what's mediocre or not? Something can be mind blowing to one person and taste like crap to another. Again, it's all about those involuntary taste buds.

It's impossible.. Can't tell you how many times I've felt ripped off eating expensive food at restaurants. Or gone to some and been disgusted by that stuff on the menu that's supposed to be amazing. I can cook a plain ribeye (just using this as an example) on the grill at home and it taste better to me than 99% of the stuff i eat at those places and it's a fraction of the price. And I feel just as happy and as satisfied eating that than someone who goes pays out their ass at some reputable restaurant. But because it's just some mediocre quality ribeye I bought at the store, I guess I suck.

I should just stop now. :p
