| In a rush so I just skimmed, sorry if I missed a key bit in here but I will still argue my point. did the people that are praying say that they were not giving five bucks to an organization or that their church was not raising money and sending out relief efforts, if it did, sorry I missed that little bit. It's been my experience that they have the churchs are always raising money for this kinda . In that part of the country it was probably 90% churches that got destroyed, so what does the prayer bit have to do with anything? |

I had the news on the whole night, I get really into that . I both love and hate tornadoes. I think they're really awe-inspiring, but they're also incredibly terrifying. This is probably due to having to spend nights down in the bathtub in the basement with my family when I was a kid.
I was on the 12th floor of an apartment facing downtown back in 2008 when a tornado ripped through downtown Atlanta. I was napping and my mom called me yelling that I needed to get somewhere. Look out the window and there was just a black mass devouring the Georgia Dome. |

Not everyone in the South is a redneck bigot who hates taxes, Nou. There are all types of people in all types of states. And even if they are religious conservatives, they're human beings with loved ones, families, and stories to tell.
And even the most religious and conservative people I know in the South (where I'm originally from) believe that disaster relief is an important function of government.

Yea, those same people that think disaster relief is an important function also rally around the idea of not having to pay taxes to support it.
Seeing that these states take in more federal tax dollars than they contribute even with out disasters, and richer states have to support their stupidity, I do not think its such a bad thing to tell them to fend for themselves in a situation like this. |
