The only mainstream vocalist that I can think of, off the top of my head, that actually has talent is Katy Perry.

hate to say it...but lady gaga can sing. you can hate their music, but celine and beyonce have singing talent. there are many more on the fringes of mainstream with talent, but those are the big 3 right now in terms of mainstream stars with legitimate vocal skills in terms of range and control.
I've seen all 3 live as well, they all hit their notes perfectly and don't lip sing. |

Of course not, and never once did I imply it did. But the original mix of this song has almost 30 million views on youtube. She's clearly popular, even though she's a talentless hack. |

celine dion isn't really mainstream, but i agree with you. those 3 can sing too. |

My point is that so many people love this singer who clearly can't sing. Your analogy is a bit off, it would be more accurate if you said everybody loves McDonalds even though their burgers are served halfway cooked and their fries are always burnt. Singers who can't sing shouldn't be popular, and chefs who can't cook should also not be popular. |
