Actually it isn't. At all. People may have believed that back in the 70s before they understood all of the socioeconomic factors that affect/limit "choice", but the majority of people nowadays know better and believe differently. Furthermore, homelessness is a much more complex issue than to narrow it down to "lazy people who don't want to work". Anyone who says that is just proving how uneducated they are.

ThisCan be applied to people who are overweight pretty well too :p

Shoes aside, that was a very good video. "Empathy" (together with "theory of mind") is the new-old cool social psychology word that is thrown a lot lately, from explaining autism and sociopathy (lack of empathy) to borderline and neurotic traits (sometimes too much empathy) to personality formation and social phenomena such as group dynamics. It is also connected to a lot of neuroscientific findings such as orbitofrontal cortex, mirror neurons and oxytocin. Well, it might be a bit of a fad, but it trully seems to be of great importance in shaping our social nature-and hence- human mind, so empathy it is. Will watch again ;)

So what you're saying is that you understand how ignorant and misinformed it is to say that homeless people need to just change their attitude and do something about it/get a job/etc.?

If you say no, you haven't really learned much imo.

I am not sure what you're talking about. :conf:

I've come to the conclusion that when girls complain (sorry broad generalization) they just want to vent, but guys look for the solution making the girls even angry because they aren't able to just vent.

Yea, I think that's it. The BF wants to help solve the problem but I just want to vent about it. I typically just need to blow off some steam and am capable of "solving the problem" on my own.

I wish guys could get away with that. "God damnit honey you are such a ing bitch sometimes I don't know why I even stay with your stupid ass I'm such an idiot I should have ed your sister when I had the chance!!!   , ok I'm sorry babe I didn't mean that I'm just venting."

Umm... I don't think that's what most people do when they want to vent. It's usually bitching about someone who pissed me off, but I personally would never get verbally abusive with the BF.

If you can solve the problem on your own why don't you just do that instead of bitching at your bf? gf imo :o

Just because you're bitching about someone or something else doesn't mean it's not a pain in the ass to listen to.

I'm not bitching "at" him. I am just venting my frustrations to him, and it is almost never about him.

Sometimes you just need to vent about something that has aggravated you and get it off your chest. Everyone does that from time to time. Pretty silly to suggest that it makes me a GF considering everyone does it.
