I would love if they extended it here from 3 to 5ish... at least you get out, take the metro and go home.
Now you're out on the streets at 3am, wtf are you supposed to do other than getting a poutine and drunk drive? |

i like that idea but dont think it would be a very good decision for torontonians. look at what happens to people during TIFF (and any other festivals) when many venues are licensed until 3am. EVERYONE is tanked, including the designated driver! |
I think that would pass if the law changed. Those special circumstances only allow the "already idiots" to overdo it and take advantage. The vast majority are still responsible enough that no matter when last call is, they'll still comply with proper drinking.
Remember, the person that gets hammered and goes behind the wheel, will do so regardless of what time last call is set to. Nothing will stop them! |

i dont really care about the 2am last call thing; but I would like to see subway service extended until 2.30am. |

| granted toronto is different than buffalo, but being from a city where last call has been 4am since as long as i can remember, some people here in buffalo want to change it and make last call 2am. they say most of the issues (fights and things) take place after 3am as people continually drink more and more that last hour to get in what they can. issues are going to arise no matter what the last call time is, but as stated before, most people tend to be responsible when it comes to this topic. i personally think 2am is certainly to early for last call. |

I hate that about Montreal. Well at least it probably means more business for afterhours tho.

Who the hell wants to go home at 3 am when they're wasted and have energy to burn? |

ive seen so many fights on chippewa street between 3-4am.
on one occasion (it was a few years ago) i must've seen at least 6 fights from only walking about three blocks. imagine toronto when there is a 4am last call? lol |

Its actually 4am on festival weekends. And anyway, considering 3 am or later last-calls seem to work just fine in the rest of the world, I see no reason why they wouldn't here.

Better yet would be to do away with them completely, as it would allow people to leave the bars when they want to (and have most likely sobered up), rather than having everyone kicked out (and still drunk) at the same time, leading to fights and so on because of the sheer mass of drunk people on the streets/buses/etc. |

Buffalo has a drastically higher violent crime rate than Toronto, of course there are going to be more fights on the street at 3 am.

If we actually had festivals in Ontario, this would be great news. |
Yeah. Pride Parade, Caribana, Freedom Fest, Nuite Blanche, etc...must've just imagined all those happening and the millions of people that were there. |

| just seems like a small concession being made by mcguinty leading up to the election. it could mean that more promoters are willing to consider the high risk of a festival, so maybe we get a virgin fest or two and maybe some rock festivals as well. i don't think they'll change last call though... it sucks but what can you do? people are always going to drink a lot in the last hour before last call. best thing they can do is extend the hours the subway runs and that's the city anyways, not the province. i can see rob ford looking at it though |
