Review: EDC VEGAS - The goods? The bads? Going next year?

since going through the other EDC thread is just a pain in the ass (190 pages) figured I'd start a review page here.
Any thoughts?

it was so bad, we stayed til the end on Friday ;)
all I can say is some peoples noses were clooooooooooooogged up...they got some nasty sh*t. :haha:
here is what I said in the other thread...
only went Friday and had a great time. enjoyed Plastickman immensely!
on the shuttle from the Palms to EDC, we were stuck with idiots behind us. once we took off, they started shouting "wheres the blow? who's got it? who's got pills? I've taken mine, lets get moving here!" just a bunch of rude "kids". "I cant wait to see Avicee(Avicii) and Ceedric Gervees(this is how they said the names)" they would not shut up I wanted to slap the bitches and school them on how the names are pronounced, how to handle their and how to not be f*cken obnoxious idiots. so my husband decides to with them and says "hey, what time does dead-mau-5 go on? I'm excited to see him." they said"its deadmouse" "no, its dead-mau-5...it has a 5 at the end" no dude, its deadmouse. the 5 is an s "no its not. its dead mau-5. are you talking about the guy with the mickey mouse ears" yea, that guy. wait, are you f*cking with us? OMG, I was laughing the whole time it was going on, this was the short version. the idiots turned out to be from Newport. this new generation has no clue how stupid they look when they mispronounce names and act like douches. where can they be schooled on this lifestyle? look how long it took us to get to this point and this new gen is going to ruin it for the rest of us. I blame dubstep!
shuttles back were a clusterf*ck! got in line at 545ish and I think we were on one an hour later but we saw other shuttle buses constantly coming and going. it took us 35 minutes once we got on the bus to the freeway and 10 more after that to the hotel. we were in our room at 730. it was after this chaos we decided not to go on Sat(we had no plans on staying for Sunday). we left Vegas around 11pm(recovered all day and caught up with some friends) and got home by 3 this morning.
Plastikman was phenomenal! I cant get over him. |

| Had a blast. Setup was amazing. Personnel were all super nice. Way better than the head security at LA events. Returning in the future would be completely dependent on the lineup. We drove to the event. Parked 100 yards from the entrance. I had GA and it took at most 3 minutes to get in. Michelle had VIP and walked in with no line at all. VIP was a 100% ripof though. Insomniac should be ashamed of that. Figured the shuttles would be a nightmare with 70000 people leaving at once. |

Good: The stages and production were probably the best I've seen yet. The only stage that was kind of bad IMO was the Bass Pod one because the circle thing kind of hid the DJ and there was no lighting for the MC's.
I was impressed when I walked out of the Stadium hallway and looked down at the field. It really was like they created a whole other world in there. The Kinetic Field stage was massive. Too bad most of the artists I wanted to see were not playing there.
The sound was pretty good in the stages. I thought the Circuit Grounds sounded great.
It was good for me that the crowd seemed to be really into artists I'm not into. After Guetta stopped and A&B came on, man that place cleared out quick! After Ferry stopped playing everyone started pushing their way to the front to see ATB, the same after Markus when Dash Berlin came on. That worked out for me since I could see who I wanted without it being crazy packed.
Sunday seemed to be the perfect storm for me. Artists I wanted to see plus not as crowded as Sat :)
On to the bad . . .
I originally thought I was only going Saturday and the 1 day GA passes were sold out. So I figured the 1 day VIP pass was about the same cost as a 3 day GA pass so I got that. Besides the no open bar part that we already knew about, VIP was so not worth it for people who picked that over GA. There were no real benefits. The VIP line was WAY longer than GA for the security check when I got there around 10:30-11ish. Luckily when I asked the security staff which was the VIP line, she suggested the GA line because the VIP line was so long and not moving. Followed that advise and was in a couple of minutes while the VIP line was still not moving.
The VIP area at the Kinetic Field had no free refreshments or food like was advertised.
What was really bad was when I was leaving that area. I saw a big line for people trying to get in and I asked the security guy if we left could we get back in and he said no. That was weird because it was not crowded in the VIP area at all. I left anyways because I wanted to check out the other stages but that really sucked for people that had paid for VIP but could not even get access to the VIP area.
I don't know if I would go next year. It really depends on the lineup. I'm not into most of the artists they've been booking for the main stages lately and it's kind of disappointing to have to see them on the smaller ones. It also depends if the artists I want to see have been playing at other clubs or events prior. I think I've seen my favs too many times this year and all their sets are sounding the same.

they were selling GA at the door for 120.....and i had the same problem with the cars and i was completely sober friday and saturday! LOL |
