I think the problem of many of you is that u forcefully try to classify this album as trance/chill/prog whatever. Cant we just forget about all the genres for a moment and enjoy it as what it is? A MUSIC masterpiece.
Arty
Exactly, it isn't prog or trance, though it's clearly derived from his prog trance DJ style. It's just great music. You could listen to it over and over again, and keep hearing new things in it. The Legacy is great, but it's a dance tune that took 5 hours to make - it's simple and effective, but listen to it over and over and you soon get bored, because it's hardly a work of genius. I think dance music should be proud of Sasha, because people often slate it for being repetitive and boring. This shows that it doesn't have to be.

Who cares if it took 7 years, sasha obviously didn't release it till he was happy with it and that was 7 years. It isn't like so much music that gets churned out in half an hour slapped together with no thought and being sold in hmv that afternoon. Good on him for giving a about his album!:D

Thank you for the personal attack in calling me "musically dumb". go f' yourself. I am sorry I am not stimulated by this album like the masses. I find it boring, I am entitled to my opinion. So much hype, when I put it in.. I didnt get it.. but that must be because I am dumb. When you get to NY and have the balls to say I am dumb to my face, please let me know.. otherwise put your computer balls that seem to grow 100x behind your monitor back down.

Album of the year if u ask me....

But I wouldn't compare Sashas and MIKEs productions since they do such different style of music, that the answer only comes down to personal taste... It's not how much effort u put into it, it's the result that counts....

Personally, I love both of those artists productions, so I'm happy :)

Bye for now...

Well, i just listened to Airdrawndagger for the first time, in my headphones.

beautiful music, well produced, but..

can't say i was all that impressed, it's nice music, but.. if a DJ was spinning it, i think i would go to another room.

I don't know maybe it will take a few more listens.

A buddy and I just gave a listen to it.. Again.. for the fifth time. This album is soooo overhyped. Silly bandwagon album. Everyone has their opinion.. a lot of people seem to like it.. I for one dont think it is anything special.

I thought this album was great...period. It was well produced and was an awesome display of Sasha's production talents. If people don't get that, then that is there problem and not mine. Hopefully, you will learn to appreciate the music for what it is rather for what it is not. I don't like it because it doesn't have a 4/4 beat (I used to be like that) and because it takes too much effort to listen to (you only get out what you put in...nothing more...nothing less). I don't like it because it was produced by MIKE. Don't get me wrong but I don't want it to be like MIKEs productions anywayz. MIKE has a certain sound and it doesn't fit in Airdrawndagger.
Furthermore, I believe 7 years was well worth the wait. Can't wait to get my limited LP...:tongue2

P.S. It is basically four notes going up and down the scale. It is pretty basic. I am not calling him a bad producer just telling the truth. It is how you use the notes that makes the song not the number.

So basically you don't like it just because everyone else does?

I wasn't a big prog fan before either guys. But I must admit, trance isnt really going anywhere at the moment. No extremely well produced tracks. Even the tracks from back in the day (99) are easily labeled as being "formulaic". You can't just pass off progressive as "boring". You really have to appreciate how these DJ's layer their sets. It will in blow you away. Ok, how bout this. For all you guys that are saying I can't stand that boring progressive (like I did not too long ago) go and listen to Sasha GU 13 Ibiza. Come back and tell me that you didn't feel like Sasha took you on a journey and you will have to be bitch slapped. Also, i just noticed one other thing recently. Is it me, or are M.I.K.E's productions all very similar sounding. DOnt get me wrong, I LOVE his work. But I could listen to Legacy, then listen to Silverbath if I didnt know they were both MIKE productions and be able to tell that they were made by the same producer. I just feel that M.I.K.E. has a sound that is distinctive to him and he uses it over and over.

You're like my clone or something .....

I'm gonna say something. Anyone who says that Sasha and Digweed are ty DJ's...I don't care if you say "its your opinion"...learn how to in appreciate quality DJ'ing. They might not spin your type of music...but at least be a little more openminded. Steve Lawlers Lights Out almost put me to sleep, simply cuz its not my style. It was too dark for me, but I still liked the way he mixed the tunes and did find the flow in both the CD's and how they progressed. God...you people just don't understand. But thats ok, I was like that earlier this year.

As for Airdrawndagger..I can't really say, it's good, I like it. He did a great job...but I like MMII more at the moment. I'm giving Airdrawndagger time tho, cuz I have a feeling it'll grow on me. Every song is very well produced, especially Magnetic North (yes, this is the album's trophy, not Wavy Gravy :p).

The more I listen to the album, the more i like it. It definitely grows on you. Sasha's set from Kiss 100 from in early August is the too. Beautiful tracklisting.
caroline
I like his live performance from Kiss100 MUCH better that his new album. His new album is cool too, don't get me wrong- I think the style is pretty cool....different...I wouldn't go on to say it deserves a music award, however. Try snatching the Kiss100 set...it is definitely a charm.
