I own a 2002 WRX, my 2nd, and have been with Subaru's for the past 5-6 years. They are AMAZING vehicles, don't listen to what some of these ppl are saying. They are so stout and perform very well in any condition possible. Treat her well and she'll beg you for more.

Go to the states and pick yourself up a nice rust free STi for like $10k, hell, even less.

You'll probably end up paying just sub $300/month insurance on it but what ever it's totally worth it. , I'm paying $335 a month on my second insurance company for a wrx...

I'm pushing well over 300hp and will spank a lot of STi's out there, so if you ever want to see what a beat subaru's can be, shoot me a PM and we'll sort you out ;)

Sweet dude. Exactly what I wanted to hear, but probably what I shouldnt have heard.

I think im going to go for the regular WRX ... a little bit of a compromise.

I just picked up the consumer reports 2011 used car guide and it contains a wealth of great information. WRX's ranked well in the magazine.

And buying in the states, ive heard of that. What about duties and what not?

It is def not a pain if you don't mind doing a bit of paperwork and having it import inspected.

You'll probably have to do a drl conversion but that's all...

I have a friend who imports cars if you want to talk to him although he deals 99% in high end vehicles...

Importing to Canada is and can be very easy! I haven't personally done it before, but a lot of my friends have done it! Check out http://www.importcartocanada.info/ for more details. My dad brought over a 2006 Porsche Cayenne for $30g's a couple years ago all said and done. I think it was from Indiana. You can turn around cars in no time if you wanted to lol.

Like Vdub mentioned, there are companies locally who will find you the exact car you are looking for and will do all the paper work for a small fee.

I remember in 2004-2005 I really wanted to import a 1989 Nissan Skyline GTR and was sooooo close to putting money on it but my insurance company declined as it was a "Japanese race car". Now mind you, that's when the 15yr rule first came into effect for Japanese cars and they probably weren't even aware of it. I was also 16 only lol.

Feelgood, what you are looking to spend?

WRX and the WRX STI are both turbocharged engines so your probably thinking of the impreza.

yes, but you like built two cars yourself with performance parts. would this guy have the sort of committment and passion for the these cars as you? I don't think so.

i definitely agree with some of the other posts here. get a really cheap car for yourself to built up your driving experience and insurance history. you can wait 3 years for your dream car. you definitely need to have at least 3 years history for a reduction in your insurance.

Imbecile. Doesn't understand money.

Lol, @ bartering how badly ripped off he is going to be.

Him:

"Oh well i dont need that turbo that makes the only important characteristic of the car that made me want it in the first place, I'll just have an ugly thing with a pretend engine cooling scoop, even though the in-town speed limits show that it isn't an effective engineering strategy to get better performance, hence why no good cars have them, its ugly, and doesn't improve performance"

Mock response from subaru:

Subaru:

were marketing this thing to idiots so who cares!!! Not like he'll notice.

good advice:

Take the bus for 2 years, save up, than buy a used cayman or 911 for the same price you dullwit!.

A typical fool.

Although, he's being a total dick in his argument...

I really don't think that you're knowledgeable enough to buy what you want...

Wrong. Although the best results from a hood scoop are at higher speeds where the air is being forced into the intake to create an extra psi or so, benefits are had even at a standstill. This is because the engine is sucking in cold air from outside instead of heavily heated air inside the engine bay.

As for ugly or not, that is all personal taste. But there's a lot of supercars that have a hood scoop as well as modders who put one on, so I don't think someone who happens to like them would be on their own.

Not only will he get neither of those cars after saving for 2 years but you're countering all sensible previous advice. All the big reasons (insurance, maintenance, performance overkill you don't need) not to get an STI are inflated for a Porsche. Besides those things are extremely over rated and should only be bought by doctors/lawyers/bankers trying to compensate for small dick syndrome.
