Name your top 5 venues on the west coast (pg. 2)

Haven't been in the scene nearly as long as some of you guys, but I've been to my fair share of venues.

1. Hollywood Palladium - Always a great time here. Massive dance floor, good artists (TATW 350 was epic) and always a great looking crowd. Has a rave feel in more of a club setting, and a lot of the scum that the LA massives attracts is filtered out, mostly people just there for the music. The bathrooms are well taken care of which is a huge plus, plenty of places to chill out and catch a breather.

2. XS Las Vegas. When you first walk into the main area of the club and look out to the pool and dance floor its like wow! Place usually brings in a good crowd. The venue itself is huge, the pool area is awesome to go out and mingle with people. My only complaint is that when they actually bring in DJs, the club becomes too DJ focused.

3. LA Coliseum. For massive type event, you're not going to find a better venue anywhere in the world. Steve Angello said it himself that he's been all over and he's never seen anything like that (now I'm not saying Steve Angello is the authority on anything, but you get what I mean). Sitting in the stands, looking down on the crowd and stage is epic. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles crowd can't party responsible, I'm not just talking about the girl that died, but all the fence jumpers, etc. I hope one day that EDC will return to the coliseum.

4. Circus - Although I wasn't around to experience the Spundae days, the times I've been to Circus have always been a fun, no bs experience. They bring in good trance artists, and I like that you're able to interact with the DJs. The crowd is always good, no douche bags, or people who don't know who the DJ are, just people looking for a good time.

5. Bill Grahm Auditorium - Came here for the past two Lovefest after parties and both were amazing times. It could be that I prefer the SF massive crowd MUCH better than the LA crowd, but both parties were magical. I hope to see them return once all the bad rap for EDM blows over.

I only know SF but I guess i can rank my top 5.

1. Com# (RIP) - the combo of sound, surroundings, and UG vibe makes this spot numero uno.

2. Public Works - great sound, good layout, sick visuals, good bookings. I like the kind of warehousey feel to the main floor and the 2nd room is nice to have.

3. End Up - I don't go here enough but the sound system is great and the indoor/outdoor aspect is awesome. So is being open all weekend long.

4. Mezzanine - Really good sound, minimal production, just how I like it. It can get kind of packed around the bathrooms on busy nights though.

5. Mighty - It's about the same as mezzanine but I don't think the sound system is as good, it's more visually imposing but it's not as crisp sounding to me. The side room is kind of cool when it's being used, and when the set stuff up outside it's awesome.

Honorable mention:
Vessel - a little too douchey for me, and they only book good acts on thursdays which kinda sucks for those of us with 9-5 jobs in the south bay. Still, at least they try to get good bookings and its overall a nice venue. Will be up there for CLR.

Ruby - I used to love this place but lately when I go i feel like I'm overpaying. It's huge and the "$500k" sound system is only good if you're right in the middle of the dance floor. Frustrating.

Mixture of lineup, crowd, staff, cool security.

I love XS. It is so obnoxious just like vegas, and just like the music they play to the point where it's kitschy which is a good thing for me since I learned that it's ok not to be a d-bag chinstroker. the crowd just adds to the tackyness!

I was just sitting on a bed one time and a dude told us to move so he can jump on it, and there was a guy who just stole some poor lady's drink like it was nothing. That was a unique experience that i will never forget.

1 - ICE Las Vegas - I was there from the day that place opened to the last night it operated. What a vibe that place could bring! Off the strip venue that really jump started the Vegas EDM intrest. I was booked to play the last month with a friend but we had bought all of our stuff to go to Nocturnal at the NOS center with a large group so, we had to skip out. Seeing Deep Dish open for Tiesto and dancing till 9am was the highlight of my clubbing career so far. Now you couldn't pay me to see him. Farasheed was the man back in the day and the owner was this little short 70 year old man who would be rolling balls every weekend. Coolest light guy on the planet who now works at Marquee.

Man, I totally feel you on that one. I went to ICE many times and I just loved everything about it (except for the hiphop in the front room when walking to the main room - ha!). This is the club I miss the most, and I desperately wish it would get re-opened. It kills me when I drive past it and see it fenced off and remember all the good times I had there - I still don't understand what they're doing with the property.

1 - ICE LV - Reasons above, but I *loved* the ice cannons (I don't know the proper term for this at all :p) and how they would fill the main room so you felt like you were dancing inside a cloud. Only club Space in Ibiza rivals that feeling for me.

2 - Ruby Skye - The talent they bring and the fact that the decor is not overdone and gaudy. Sound could be better and, as Dave said, the lighting needs a total makeover. I love taking video with my point-and-shoot, but RS is so dark most of the time that you rarely get good shots of the DJ.

3 - Marquee - I love the look and feel of the club, and I love that they keep the outdoor section open. The Dayclub is fantastic too as long as it isn't too hot (I'm kind of a ). Inside is really nice - only complaint is it can often get way too cramped in the walkways and near the bars (it was crazy-packed for ATB on MDW), and we couldn't even get to the main dance floor (and we didn't even arrive that late)

4 - Circus Disco - My first LA club experience with Rank 1 and Markus and I'll never forget it. Plenty of room to dance!

5 - Rain - I have a soft spot in my heart for Rain @ Palms. I love the multi-level design and how it feels so big and wide open. And I totally dig the fire every time. And I like how you can go outside near the pool to cool off if you get too hot. Always had good experiences here.

I haven't been to many clubs in LA so don't hate on my choices! I'm sure many of them are great. :)

In random order:

D. End Up (SD)

I guess you never went 4-5+ years ago.

I used to get off work at 1030pm meet up with my friends and head up there from SD. We seriously went 2 times a month for like a year or two.

It was awesome back then with out the washers, we would get there around midnight preparty on the way there and smash drinks once we got in and before last call. Party the night up until the bars opened again and sun came up. Then...get some food, drive home, take a nap if there was time, shower and head to work on Sunday lol
