Very good progression, although IMO the peak should be nearer the end not in the first half of the set, average beatmatching, a lot of mixes beatmatched but not on beat, hence the mark drop, lack of corrections of this keeps the mark like this - sorry. Gain control is extremely poor in some places, eg. Café Del Mar is a lot quieter than its surrounding tracks, I think this mix suffers extremely from lack of confidence for correcting and use of EQ/Gain, but having said that it would not be difficult for you to improve a lot very quickly.
Thanks for the input brother- I've only been on my cd's for like 2 months on this one- I wasnt expecting much- just wanted to throw it in.
I would like to judge the next one if i could- Not a flake and not biased. :crazy: |

thanks luke. you are correct about bad luck, i had the needle skip on me a few times, and also dealt with some super slippery records that when i tried to correct the mix it ed it up way worse. However that is no excuse. I am learning to correct with the pitch control, it's tough but sounds way better.
also, there were some plain crappy mixes, nothing to do with bad luck at all, just inexperience. that's OK though, the feedback and experience is very valuable, and i am glad i competed. |

congrats to the winners! :) good job guys...
although, i must say when I first saw the results i was a bit displeased with how low I was on the charts, but the comments did help to pinpoint why. thanks for those :)
also, it might be worthwhile to mention that i do this mixing with only one good ear. i've got a 60% hearing loss in one ear, so its pretty tough doing straight mixing in the first place ;)
anyways, congrats again to all...and i'll be back for the next compo for sure :)

First of all, again, massive congratz to Mikey Mike, heard ur mix and its in sweet :D
Well done to every1 else who entered too, every1 seems to have done exceptionally well and it must be getting increasingly more difficult to judge.
Lets hope we can organise the next one (if there is one?) a lot better as this one seemed to be a shambles and hopefully i can do myself justice next time and not enter a crappy mix :whip: |
