I think they replaced their customer service with a knowledge base :stongue:

Who gives a about quality control when there's money to be made?

This is a pretty ing stupid statement because it implies that making money and the quality of the product or service are completely separate issues.

As I recall, Beatport do actually have parameters over which labels can have their tracks sold on there, mostly to do with meeting certain profit margins or sales figures. As others have pointed out, the business of signing and selling decent music is not the concern of Beatport, it's the job of the labels and their A&R. What the do you people expect: Beatport to hire a huge team of music critics who pre-screen every one of the thousands of tracks they upload daily to meet some bizarre quality checklist? Beatport are just a sales platform. You can rant about the file tagging, the prices and the interfaces all you want, but to blame Beatport for music is adolescent stupidity at best.

Simple fact is these labels wouldn't be on Beatport if they didn't hit certain sales figures. In other words - someone is buying all this music, and they probably think the music you listen to is as well.

^^^^^^ Hit the nail on the head there mate. Technology has allowed any douche to make music and flood the market so they can say they have signed and released records. Unfortunately it does not take much to start a label these days so the amount of gets magnified.

I accidently bought two albums one time I didn't want to buy (but they were still in my cart, didn't notice) and I wrote to the customer support and they gave me tons of credits equal to the releases I bought. Pretty nice I must say. But that was before the new Beatport so no idea if things are different now.

While we're sharing, they also let me re-download about 700 tracks once, after a hard drive failure.

Support through mail was very responsive and accomodating when I made use of it. Didn't ask any questions when I asked to reactivate some downloads.
