Yup...Another J8V fan here. People shouldn't buy into the whole "It sucks because it's not a 100% perfect match to the 'real thing.' It's fantastic at what it does and what it does is fantastic ;) The 8V gets a lot of grief from people protecting the value of their hardware, but if you aren't one of those, you will almost assuredly be a very happy camper. It's a pad and Bass monster.

Nuendo. As far as synths go, i have NI komplete, vanguard, korg legacy collection (analogue edition) and JP6K. I also have 2 hardware synths collecting dust as im too lazy to patch them in (unless theres a sound I love on them that I must use), my triton and JP8000 dont get switched on much these days.

I have messed around with Massive the last couple of weeks and found that it can be a bit of a cpu hog when creating certain pad sounds and for some reason, even though I used slow attack and release times I have been getting some clicks or faint thumps when playing a new chord, havent had the time to see if its a polyphony thing or cpu prob. Not enough bloody hours in a day.

After checking out a lot of vids omnisphere is definitely in consideration just because of the inspirational value, there are patches in there that I just would not think of making and sometimes this is what im looking for, especially if im trying to break a habit of playing/writing similar stuff. I don't really care if i use presets or make my own sounds, if a preset works for something I'll use it, if not, i'll try to make something. You've just reminded me of another question i need to ask about my JP too.

Dude, seriously, work with what you have. Absynth is a great choice, several of the Korg Legacy synths are good, and you have a bloody JP8....all of those would be fine for pads.

How old is your computer? People complained about Massive's CPU hit back when a P4 was considered top of the line, but a modern CPU shouldn't even blink at Massive. If you have an outdated computer, I suggest skipping a new synth since you already have plenty of good options there, and save your money for a new computer. Regardless, make sure that you're using the latest Massive update.

No he doesn't. Neither the JP6K nor the JP8000 comes close to a JP8.

Omnisphere is by FAR the most inspirational plugin I own. And I have virtually everything else mentioned here too! :)

computer is just over a year old. I know I can use pad sounds from instruments I already got but I think its the inspirational factor that im finding appealing when it comes to omnisphere or similar. i wont go out and rush to get something, i'll ponder on this decision for a while I think.

cheers,

Alchemy Player + Luftrum + Himalaya will get you some pads to noodle with for a while.

Full version of Alchemy to turn any fart into a pad. Really.

thanks mate :) It's worth noting that in Gladiator it's very easy to create such pads. You dont have to tweak gazillion knobs ;)
