I am probably one of the worst when it comes to getting back to people in a timely manner when I receive a text. Basically on par with what Del said... the importance of a text message goes to the very bottom of the list. I figure if its a crucial matter in which one must contact me then I would expect to hear my phone ringing. Its quite funny actually because I used to be on call all the time and didn't really have much choice other than to consistently check my phone for important messages.
Ah the importantance of changing jobs.
I guess it goes to show you that people's attention span continually decreases as the years go by since they can't seem to sit/stand still without having some gadget they must click each and every ticking second of the day.
Every now and then I ask a random Crackberry addict: "What would you do without your phone?" Usually they respond with "I wouldn't be able to live without it" while giving me this look like their face just melted off and are about to shrivel up into fetal position.

LOL - yes, I am a ing addict.
But I've done a few things to keep my addiction in check. Boxcar is great. Though constant notifications may result in using my iPhone even more, it eliminates the random 'I wonder if I have any messages' impulse check.
I'm on it a lot, but - I use it for pretty much every thing but wiping my ass. Taking photos/videos, tweeting, listening to tunes, gps in the car, streaming hard core porn, grocery lists, taking notes at work, organizer, calendar, email, banking, recording / deleting TV shows, sports updates, instant messaging, weather, restaurant reviews, desktop client, foursquare, reading the news, alarm clock, buying / searching for music, go train schedule, concert tickets, the list goes on....
I don't use it during dinner.... but lunch? you bet your ass. |
