Anyway, if this is tech-house, then this is certainly an example of a diamond in the rough.
Yeah, there's some stuff that's kinda hard to pin down to a genre. Like that one (love it, btw). It's got a pretty steady groove, even with all those melodic elements, so I'd have label it Tech House as well.
Here's somethin I just picked up that exemplifies my views:
I went with the UGLH Loophole mix. The rest is just standard fare, imo. Debating getting the UGLH Underground mix as well.

Yea UGLH actually did a good job with their remixes. It's definitely a track I wouldn't mind dropping in a more varied house/techno set. But still, most tech house is pure dance floor fodder and while this is pretty good, it's still just that. Hard to find that lasting/timeless quality with these tracks.

Agreed. I'd assume because there's no memorable melody. Hence why people almost always talk about trance classics.

One thing I never got though, is why is so much of this tech house getting vinyl releases? Why would anybody care to have this stuff on vinyl? I mean if it were 1995 I'd understand, but I personally can't bring myself to buy a vinyl record today unless it's something really special.

I used to listen to a lot of tech house last year, I'm kinda falling out nowadays.. just like avicii's tracks being labelled as prog, there's a lot of 'tech house' that is just house with a big kick. Maceo Plex isn't tech house IMO. Deep house and nu-disco, hard to label but not tech house.
Also lol @ trance crackers saying tech house is just for the dance floor and it's boring and not for home listening, like trance is.

I wonder the same thing. Especially the material coming out of germany STILL with the klinks and klonks, and of course lets not forget "bah-dooka-dooka-dooka-dooka-dooka-dooka-dooka) to infinity and beyond. ( you dubfire)
Basically the sound of "Desolat" or "Sci & Tec". I think they are both prime examples of atrocious sounding, soul-less modern techno & tech house (barring a very small few examples such as the moritz von oswald on Desolat)
They have an average crate-life of about 3 weeks, why anyone would want to take up space in their loft with this music is mind boggling. Its out of style before the post man can even drop it off for you.
THe most recent tech house vinyl purchase I made was the Benoit & Sergio that's already been highlighted in this thread. That song is above and beyond in so many ways. That track would get more attention if it werent drowned out by all the other shoddy competition in its respective genre. Whoever said diamond in the rough was right.

Most tech house wishes it was prog but they stripped all the fun out to sound more "serious".
