LOL!
Come on JJ, NY LA LV and MIA are the epitome of the bottle service, go to a club to look cool, and to be seen, culture. Toronto has its problems, but we're miles and miles better then that, always have been. Just saying that comparing ourselves to those places and coming out on top, doesn't really mean too much.
It's like saying: "Yay! we're better then Oshawa." (obviously an over exaggeration, but you get the point)
Not saying you can't find an awesome party occasionally in those places, Miami during WMC or a blkmarkt event in NYC for example, just the collective attitude as a whole. Same thing here, we have great parties (more frequently), thank god for FW, Wrongbar, Platform, Bok, etc., but collectively the city is much different now then years past. |

I disagree
NYC, Miami, Vegas, L/A are big markets
Oshawa, off! lol |

Hahahaha I did a double take on the Oshawa comment too after posting :eyes: :haha:
Agreed they're certainly huge markets, in terms of monies generated.
But when I think of the best clubbing cities in the world (for quality of vibe, bookings, venues), none of them are anywhere close to the top of that list, I'd rate Toronto much much higher. Agree to disagree :) |

14. wtf does my age matter. and yes, i lived and clubbed in toronto for 10 years up until last october
so what is it you want? more underground house clubs for the tourists? you want Richmond street to shut down, not sell bottles and play underground music? or are you just bitching because things aren't like they used to be? believe it or not TA represents less than 1% of the people who go clubbing and a lot of people actually ENJOY the whole top40, bottles, etc scene. so let them. the point is that you are in no way forced to deal with it, if you want proper music, good times, no BS, go to one of the mentioned clubs. if not stay home and let the top40 clubs cater to their crowd, who cares. the reason they exist because there's a demand for it. maybe its not your scene, but you're 1 person in a world of 6 billion.
unless you're telling me top40 bottle clubs are taking business from Guv, FW, etc, then i don't see a problem. there's enough clubs around in TO for everyone to do their own thing and be happy as opposed to most major metro cities where you'd have no choice, so off your pretentious 40 year old "back in the day" nonsense and just be happy with what you've got |
LOL.
Looks like I woke someone up. I really don't care about most of the scene as much as I did say 5 years ago but that doesnt mean I don't care about the scene and the future of it. I doesn't really bother me that it exists but that doesnt mean I don't like it or I think its going in a good direction. I really hit a nerve that with post didnt I?
Truth is i still go clubbing, im just more selective about my nights. I roll my eyes everytime I have to go to a birthday because I have to deal with the people JayT has mentioned.
At what point was I bitching anyway? read your post again, you are putting words in my mouth and picking things magically out of the air. I never said top40 for everyone, nor did i say people dont want to make money through bottle service, nor did i say there is no demand for bottle service... and so forth.
By the way, you should be the one to OFF you meanie, calling me names.
Seriously, you took that post pretty hard eh? Sick. |
