Are there ANY EDM fans in San Francisco???

We've had several amazing producers come through in the past year and I haven't seen ANY interest from this forum.

Producers like Marc Marzenit, Gui Boratto, Guy Gerber, Nomad in the Dark, etc and no one even responds to the announcements. Timo Maas came to Ruby Skye last May and about 50 people showed up. Granted it was a Thursday night, but ...

This Thursday, Alex Kenji is going to be in SF for the first time EVER and no one is talking. His style of house isn't my favorite, but I saw him at Spin in San Diego and it was a fantastic/cool set.

Yet if Marcus Schultz, Tiesto or DeadMau5 come to town for the ten-thousanth time, everyone gets excited.

I don't get it at all. I would have thought the underground scene in SF would be more exciting. This is crap.

that's what I was just thinking. Most of the events on TA are for commercially promoted events. The underground or smaller/intimate parties are found out through forms of networking. Especially for a town like SF, it's better to keep it that way.

SF has really gone more underground in recent years. And then a lot of shows are at smaller venues (Public Works, Vessel, more good ones at EndUp, 222 on occasion, etc).

Don't really see Mighty making an impact anymore. Same with 1015 who seemed to be on a tear (not necessarily music we liked, but they had good events going)....they have some good stuff, but seems like things have further spread out across the city.

This all said, we are just in a phase where there's no group/family kinda being the spokes people of the greatness going on. In the early 2000s we had the family from the 1015/Spundae boards who would show up in a group of 15-50 people and then have friends with them. Was a really special time. But as people got older we all split (I was the young on in that group) apart as tastes changed, people stopped clubbing, economy forces peeps to move away, etc.

This kinda of happened again in the 2004/2005-2007/2008 range with a huge group of people from right here on TA. When 222 was a good hangout spot, Taj was doing his best at 1015, Spundae @ Ruby was really taking off, etc. And along with just a shift in the scene overall, again this group kind of went in their own directions from people moving, different/more focused tastes (Rich/Gilbet/Andrieux/Schneider/lots more) and the group kind of died.

There's a new "TranceFamily" group that's been trying to make an impact (to the point haye have done fundraisers, do DJ interviews, etc), but it's run by a younger group w/o anyone with experience really helping guide them and seems they are only impacting the younger crowd, and not doing much to appeal the older crowd. But we'll see. Have to give them credit, but sometimes they come off as a bit TOO positive. Can't go ga-ga over everything.

I forgot to mention how back in the day we used to setup dinners with major DJs (between SF & LA). Armin, Ferry, Markus, others...
