Foruntately for the clubbing crowd and EDM community I was only 26 when I decided that I sucked really bad as a DJ and my sets were putting people to sleep. I quit after 5 years like a .
That was my point really. I wasnt complaing at all, just explaining that as a local DJ I came to a cross roads. I chose to go one way over the other.
I ran the numbers, and figured happyness is much more attainable with a graduate degree and a respectable professional career. Not that i doubted my abilities as a DJ, but I wasnt even sure Id be happy with that life as I approached my 40's. And by that time it would be to late to redirect my life IMO. So I enrolled at University of Phoenix's online school of Business Finance and I work as a telemarketer giving real estate advice to complete strangers across America convincing them to buy swampland in Florida.
I had my fun, met some of my best friends along the way, developed important skills, and moved on with my life. Thank god a took alot of pictures of me sleeping on tigers so I can look back at the amazing times I had playing all the incredible gigs I achieved with FunXion and Circus. But in the end, I made a decision to grow up and make something of my life. And it feels great... I love getting drunk every night and not having to be creative with my career whatsoever.
The lesson is, either do it right, or grow up and move on. If it doesnt work out, recognize that and move to plan b before its to late. DJing is for losers who can only afford to buy 8 different kinds of milk to put in their fridges, shop at Whole Foods every other day, and afford to live in that hole they call San Francisco.
To become a successful international DJ demands a life worth of work & talent (none of which I am capable of) and you are still not assured any sort of success, and the odds are EXTREMELY stacked against you. There are plenty of extremely talented producers living with mom in the basement. And I am "greatful" for their hard work so that I can play their great music, but I would never want to be a loser like them. Even if you are extremely talented, you will still need to be the benifit of timeing, networking, some marketing professionals dedication to your career, etc.
In addition, hanging out with many successful international djs and picking their brains led me to believe that once you actually get to the point where you are getting booked internationally, it doesnt mean you will be happy nor is it the amount of $$ you may think. Its a lonely life, living on a plane, getting picked up by strangers, getting booked by shady promoters that make you toss their salads, etc. Not to mention the sacrafice you will be subjected to in your personal life (non existant)
Not every successful DJ is making 30-50k per gig flying over in private jets and what not. Most of them are in a grind like you wouldn't believe. I'm too lazy. I'd much rather sell swampland in Florida and disco biscuits on the side. Livin' the dream, baby.

Quote me, and replace my words with your own words, very creative Jim. I mean, not creative like playing the same track 3x in a row back to back to back in your lastest electro mix (doh!), but creative nonetheless.

The maturity of you, JescoSF, and turnpetine all add up to about that of a 12-16 year old. |
I guess this would put your maturity level somewhere between an infant and a chimp.
Whenever your ready to make a comment on something I ACTUALLY said, feel free. Until then, Id suggest putting in some extra hours at the massage parlor...and consider a few extra "happy endings" this month. Because I doubt that your cheesy electro radio show will be catching on with anybody outside of your studio apartment anytime soon. |

Oh, poor baby Josh, got his feelings hurt. Don't cry, I'll come give you a nurturing massage with some rocking and shaking so you can feel safe again just like a baby in the womb. Don't worry, it won't be like the massages you get at the local Asian massage "parlor" that you don't tell your girlfriend about.
I guess you don't do much research do you? Is that something they don't teach you in your bachelor's or MBA program? Or do you just not pay attention in class?
The Great MBA Bubble: http://captaincapitalism.blogspot.c...mba-bubble.html
Even University of Phoenix admits the decline in the hiring of MBAs while trying to sell potential students on the same MBA program...
https://www.phoenix.edu/colleges_di...-economies.html
I know many people with MBAs making the same amount of money as they did with their bachelor's degree.
I know people with no college degrees making more money than MBA graduates.
I know massage therapists that make more than MBA graduates.
You can have all the degrees in the world and it still won't affect how much money or how successful you are. I think you understood this concept when you decided to drop out of DJing. It's about skill and talent. Keep trying buddy. :thepirate |

| Jim, if you're here to promote then you need to accept all the criticism and trolling, especially when it's online. If you're going to promote, promote good attitude too. Good luck. |
