Usually warm up DJs at the club (like myself) have the music a bit lower at the beginning to ease people into it..especially at 1-2am when theres not many people (main rush is after 3am) theres no point to be banging it out too early...headroom is key.
I guess for Danny people showed up early allowing him to put it louder. but theres meters in the booth and he was probably at the loudest he could put it without clipping the system...he knows his and i doubt he'd be in the red. also im sure he puts the booth pretty loud as hes been playing for a long time and his ears have taken a lot of sound abuse. so that can add to the overall sound..
