when you walk inside someone's place, what do you do?

do you take them off without asking? ask? walk right in?

does it depend on who they are? family? friends? stranger?

does race play a factor? religion?

does the reason for the visit matter?

first impressions upon entry are always memorable. how you handle your shoes is important.

Shoes off unless they're wearing shoes in their house.

i always just follow my hosts lead. if their shoes are off then mine come off as well. sometimes it's not always that obvious, in which case i'll ask. most often i'm taking my shoes off entering peoples houses though

as for race - well i guess most asian people i know always take shoes off, so that's good. i had a party at my house sometime over the summer where a friend of mine djd and then another friend of ours, a korean, djd as well. the korean dj brought a lot of his friends (which i was happy about) and they all took their shoes off! it was so great. didn't have to worry about mopping the floor the next day. all of the white kids that showed up after saw 20 pairs of shoes at the door so they took theirs off as well :p

I always take them off unless I'm told specifically not to. I have certain friends whose homes are shoes on homes...typically because they have hardwood or tile flooring. I have one friend whose parents have slippers/crocs for all their guests to put on.

I always take my shoes off when at someone else's place. Always have.

I always take my shoes off at my place or someone else's. Right after I take them off I sniff them which gives me a boner.

Most of the time shoes off. If you're unsure, it's ok to ask.

If the owner is Asian, definitely take your shoes off.

I just ask when I walk in, unless my shoes are wet or muddy or something, in which case I'll always take them off.

Ask Lira.

I wear shoes around my place, and unless it's obvious then I take them off (or half-heartedly appear to them take off until they tell me it's cool) at someone else's.

I don't care too much about someone not taking them off at my place, but doing so is appreciated and usually welcomed with a kind gesture in return (a beer).

Being as I'm a student, we're used to the carpets getting ed up around here. Hardwood floors would be cool, but I'm sure something would end up happening with that as well.

Egos and testosterone do clash at times when the shoes don't come off. happens.

I just ask

It must be an Australian thing

Could well be. I mean, why take off your shoes if you don't have to, right? :p
