The OP's birthday is listed as November 14th, 1983, which would make him / her almost 28.
I see it as terrifying that folk in my age can have so bad taste in music compared to my wide spectrum of all sorts of music. I would rather strangle myself than being in OP's shoes.

Hello I didn't read all the topic , just the question... and this Q. has an A. : because it's turning into COMMERCIAL S**T !! Just search tracks they(members of swedish house mafia) made years ago : Axwell - feel the vibe, laidback luke - don't let go, steve angello&sebb ingrosso - umbrella etc etc.... these were just a few examples... that electronic music is so great & so original... you hardly could find songs like this to sound "similar" ones from others, not like today's crap&s**t music :whip: :whip: :(

?
The does age have to do with anything?

i have never seen any of those djs OP. i know what you mean though. I hate when I go out and it just seems like a bunch of sounds. Not even a bunch of songs. Lots of these guys on this forum are into that crap nowadays. Zyklon Jay being one for sure. I agree with some points. To some degree the underground has become clicky and with thos special interest groups are some especially foul tastes for current edm trends. As far as I can guess Tiesto Above & Beyond and ever dj does it. Part of being a dj is playing to the crowd. And as you can see the crowd around here is more in to trance hehe. I saw Tiesto spin a set so hard and fast you would've thought it was somebody else. When you go to an event you expect to hear your dj play in a style that he is well known for, but sometimes they have to make adjustments to the surroundings. I say don't get your hopes up too high. Just go for the headliner. Arrive at 12 or whatever then leave after your dj spins. If you can't stand what he is playing tell hime he sucks ass and leave. Better yet give him the heart signal and if he gives you one back then you know he is gay.

I LOVE the singles from, for example, Swedish House Mafia. "Save the World", "One" or "Miami 2 Ibiza", or from Kaskade or Michael Gray, to name a few...
But, as happens with all the big "house music" artists nowadays, their releases have NOTHING to see with their live sets.
You only have to listen to live sessions from Afrojack, Fedde le Grand, Roger Sanchez, SHM, Kaskade,Deadmau5, and a very long etc..., to see that their sets are absolutely came from Mars ! They are just strange sounds coming out from the speakers, with very very few melodies.
Do really people like this ???
I miss those years where the big festivals where about good and melodic tunes, and beautiful mixes, not only a competition of who is the best at tweaking knobs and lfo's :(
Because the scene at some point back then, made it a criteria that if you want to be a DJ, and play big events, you have to produce a big record. I suspect this was an invention from the Global Underground days, and the DJs from that era. In order to control a small market and keep DJ fees high, it's much easier to silence great DJs by preventing them from playing by sending them to the studio.
Most producers can't DJ, and this is what you hear when you go to live events. Most TRUE DJs (Like Sasha for example...who do happen to produce also, but nobody will deny he became known because of his DJing in the 90's) don't really produce, and if they do they seldom can turn out big records, or have other people produce the records for them (which is perfectly fine).
I'm not saying real DJs can't produce, but you get the point.
The word you are thinking of is Shambolic. Get the movie It's All Gone Pete Tong. Hilarious. This is what your hearing LIVE in the making!!!
