Why is electronic music scene so strange nowadays ?

I LOVE the singles from, for example, Swedish House Mafia. "Save the World", "One" or "Miami 2 Ibiza", or from Kaskade or Michael Gray, to name a few...
But, as happens with all the big "house music" artists nowadays, their releases have NOTHING to see with their live sets.
You only have to listen to live sessions from Afrojack, Fedde le Grand, Roger Sanchez, SHM, Kaskade,Deadmau5, and a very long etc..., to see that their sets are absolutely came from Mars ! They are just strange sounds coming out from the speakers, with very very few melodies.
Do really people like this ???
I miss those years where the big festivals where about good and melodic tunes, and beautiful mixes, not only a competition of who is the best at tweaking knobs and lfo's :( |

is it possible you've changed and the music hasnt?
or maybe the music has changed and you aren't ready to accept it
everyone comes to a point in their lives where they come to a crossroads... do i change, or do i not change
so which is it? |

I think that music has changed, and believe me, I'm trying to change with it, but I'm not able to understand it.
I'm music producer, and I've been working in dance scene for several years, but now, I find myself in a point in wich I need to choose a new way in production, and this is where I find myself lost. I DON'T LIKE the music that the big artists play at their live sets, I find them boring and with no feeling. I love, for example, Anjunabeats and Above and Beyond, but it's a pity that they're not on the top of the scene, and producing trance does not let you live from the music nowadays. |

What would you consider a trance set from Mars? |

I never said trance, I said House (or whatever it is) |

| the groove has always been important but breakdowns and hands up moments aren't trendy now so producers go for a groovy floor filler with catchy vocals, intricate melodies and vocals don't fit well because vocals tend to catch your atention while a simple string pattern + fart bass is all you need to make the club go nuts. |

Listen to underground... be happy.
Of course it would be nice if EDM elements wouldn't be used so much in pop music so there would be even a little quality control... :tongue2 |

Everyone who's posting should have their age right next to their name so that you can quickly gauge what type of edm fan you might be talking to.
I have a feeling the OP of this thread is no more than 21. It just seems impossible that anyone over that age would be able to tolerate afrojack and deadmau5 and then come and make a thread about their music sounds like .
I dont need to taste the dog to know it stinks. I just need to get within 5 feet of it. Know what i'm saying? |
