Are you serious bro? Do I really need to correlate age to musical preference? Your brain can't make that connection just based on common sense?

How do you explain 40 year olds listening to pop music?

Stunted 12 year-olds in 40 year-old bodies?

I'm 21 and I listen to pretty much the same music style you do, or around it. Woony is 18 and does too and it so happens I know 45 years old that listen to techno, so again: What the hell does age have to do with anything. It has to do with how much one is committing into learning about the genre, regardless of age. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and agree that people that are older have had more time to explore their musical taste, but that doesn't necessarily means it's been refined.

agreed, we all know that 40 something dude that would still rock out to Dead****. More power to him I aint getting in the way,

But please recognize that person, he's an outlier on the bell curve if you know what i'm saying. Most people progress from tackier more "in your face" styles when they are first in the scene and end up somewhere in techno-land as a jaded s with very particular interests and low tolerance for anything less than the best.

Or maybe that's just me, but that's where I'm at. I do know I'm at least 4 shots into this kettle one so anything from this point going forward should be taken with a grain of salt (and another shot of course)

Total thread derail, but this record is why I love Matt Edwards. Bringing old classics back to life. I would have posted a youtube but noone has upped it yet. Bonus points to whoever can name the sample. Anyone born before 1984 should be able to get it

You know, I check some of my old last.fm posts when I was arguing on Armin van Buuren and Tiesto shoutboxes about being the Grandmaster of trance, flaming everyone not agreeing with me and I facepalm myself.

Personally, I don't judge anyone's music taste. Music is a commodity and it's meant to make one feel good, so regardless if someone is listening to Britney Spears, Justin Bieber et cetera, I simply don't care. Yes, I consider it to be bad music, but who am I to tell an Avicii fan that he's too dumb to understand the depth of Sasha's "Xpander"?

Further more, and I just have to put this out there, I'm tired of some people in the young generation listening to band likes Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Deep Purple and having an elitist mindset about listening to music which is universally considered "good".

I, personally, feel no respect for people that grow up to be heavy influenced musically wise by someone else, especially their fathers that play "Hey Jude" all day long and tell about how great this record is, man. At least the techno and house that flows through my headphones today is the music I grew to love by myself.

Even I listen to cheese pop and mainstream trance sometimes, but this is because there are tracks that represented a certain point in my life and sometimes those feelings need to be revisited.

I feel bad for the younger generation now. You're just as likely to get piperazine as you are mdma. They never got the full experience. They think they are faced but they have no idea how far you can go on some quality gear.

Well said, fellow lump of stardust.

A probable reason I got into anthem trance in the first place, was because I was the only one amongst everyone I knew at the time that had a taste for this kind of music, I felt a bit unique and that gave me good vibes.
