You used the word trippy and I don't think that applied. I think surreal and bizarre are much better descriptions. That's all I was saying.

Thanks to Hollywood's formulaic, dumbed down crap many people have no sense of what a trippy or ed-up movie is. People are starting to perceive anything nonlinear or a retrospective as mindbendingly original and artsy.  :whip: :whip:

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - kind of surprised this isn't already here. The Rum Diaries looks like it could be interesting.

i don't think so. i've read the book, and from screenshots i've seen of the movie it looks far too polished. The Rum Diary was about sketchy ghetto newsreporters living and drinking constantly in the most ghetto & sketchy parts of Puerto Rico. despite all the drinking and debauchery it's fairly calm -- really relaxed me when i was reading it.

really good book. he started when he was in his 20s and finished it only later, so you can see a change of style in the writing. makes the story seem like its maturing, too.

I haven't had a chance to get my hands on that one, yet. I've read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hell's Angels: A Strange and Terrible Saga, and Generation of Swine. Generation of Swine was written in the eighties and thinking about it, there was a difference but, being a collection of his editorials for the LA Times (I think), lacked a coherent focus his earlier books had so it's kind of hard to tell. Should be interesting to read Rum Diaries.

As I have said before: those who are unable to understand Inception are either stupid or have severe ADHD.

People with ADHD should love Inception. It's the equivalent of multitasking with 5 windows open at the same time.

Fair enough. I get a little passionate sometimes about things I care about, and it gets me a little fired up.

No problem. I've seen the DVD but I haven't even seen it on Blue Ray so I can imagine the quality.

I know it's a Tom Cruise Hollywood Blockbuster but Vanilla Sky was great imo.

I'm sure everyone has seen it though but what I am more interested in is asking has anyone seen Abre los ojos which translates to Open Your Eyes in English. It was made in 1997 and is the original that inspired Vanilla Sky 2001. Penélope Cruz stars in both.

Has anyone seen Abre los ojos? Any good?
