But no matter how they do it, you would mock them for being considered revolutionary? lol
enydo
I'm not mocking people who do live PA's, I'm taking the piss out of Nicolas Jaar because I'm not a fan. And do you honestly think he's doing anything revolutionary other than getting a bunch of hipsters' panties wet?
srussell0018
No, I was questioning a literal interpretation of your sarcasm.

I like a lot of his stuff though. I've never seen him live, but the clips I've seen make it look like he has an interesting style of mixing.

I enjoyed a few tracks off his album, but I thought the vast majority of it was just filler.
SYSTEM-J
Yeah, his last album was boring as hell.
srussell0018
Maybe you just don't "get it." :o

Yeah I can see how some would think that. I liked the majority of it. He's definitely a talented producer, and I've liked a lot of his remixes he's done as well.

Maybe not who I'd want to see when I want to go out and dance/party, but definitely someone I'd enjoy listening to while going for a run outside or chilling at home.

Idk, I like Nico Jaar.

I don't really understand the whole "live act" difference though. Just because he sings while DJing makes him not a DJ?

I've seen him play at afters and it's just him by himself. I've also seen him play with a full band at Electric Zoo this past September. It varies and since he lives so close to NYC, he's here quite a bit.

We need a standard rating system for level of liveness. this is important.

Why do people still think RA is purposely avoiding putting trance jocks on that list? The polls have absolutely all to do with RA and everything to do with RA's userbase.

Missing the point. RA don't review any trance, either. They're not going to attract trance fans to their userbase in the first place if they utterly ignore the genre. They even admitted their editorial bias in their Top 100 albums of the decade list.

I personally don't see the point in complaining, though. It would be nice if RA used their status to fairly promote good music across the board, but they wouldn't have their status in the first place if they'd adopted that policy. RA has an editorial policy specifically geared to attract a certain type of listener: the Mark Anthony.
