I saw a bit of the show on Youtube yesterday and the crowd and their overall reaction basically confirms what I thought already. They bought tickets hoping for Afrojack, Avicii, etc, etc, they got a tech-house and techno lineup. This crowd is so use to jumping they don't know how to dance.
And when they interviewed some of the audience asking which of the DJ's were they most dying to see...the answer...shocker...Fedde le Grande. |

Holy crap, what was Dennis Ferrer thinking? This isn't 10pm opening set before Frankie Knuckles, maaaaan, pick up the energy! He played it way too safe, I would have totally been bored, and I usually love that kind of music.
I haven't gotten to the Fedde le Grand set yet, so I can't comment, but my experiences with him have always been REALLY HIT or miss; he has the power to put together a really surprisingly good set, and I'm sure he was good last night considering the sets before and after him.
I will give credit to Joris Voorn and Mr. White though, both had very enjoyable sets, but being coupled with Ferrer's and Fanciulli, it's like they all went in and did the same goddamn thing: safe deep-house and tech-house, nothing over the top. I haven't heard all of Fanciulli's yet either, but I'm listening to it now and it all sounds like more of the same.
I don't know what it was, their scheduling/timeslots or just the lineup in general? Maybe this would have been a great summer rooftop party, but totally not Sensation material. You hear that epic (old school trance-style) intro come in and you kind of prepare yourself for big things and all that comes after it is more lackluster tech-house. There's 10 house DJs on NY Tranceaddict that could have torn these guys (minus Joris Voorn, as well as Fedde who I haven't heard yet) up. |

i was with a friend last night and one of her friends was there and she had a regular admission ticket and from what she said those tickets were only good to sit in the stand
vip tickets allowed main floor access
dunno how true it is, if that is the case without people knowing before hand i woulda been tight |

WTF that can't be true..GA specifically says "Grants Access To Main Dance Floor"
i did hear once it hit capacity you cant get on the floor though, or if you left to get a drink and use bathroom you couldnt get back on |

i'm thinking it's more like this which is why we're going to try to get in early - the experience will be completely different on the floor vs in seats.
listening to nic's set right now - WOW! he ing dropped STRANGER TO STABILITY.
i wish nic/joris were tonight with DT/Knight but whatever - i have hopes for a great night :) |

The only time i saw DT was at ezoo in 2011 and i wasnt feeling it...i keep seeing/hearing so much buzz about him I hope tonight changes my thought about him |
