2012 The year of the resurgence of the pure form of Trance (pg. 2)

I'll repeat here what I said in MD:

I wish J00F would let someone else look over these articles and give him some editorial advice, because the good and constructive things he has to say are often undermined by these unnecessary sticking points. I really would not call this article a "rant" as such, because it's actually very positive in tone. The real point here should be that 2011 was a very good year for trance and 2012 promises to be even better, in no small part because of J00F's work in promoting and supporting the music he believes in. But he spends more time taking issue with the negative side of the industry and making purist divisions, so this will once again be labelled as a rant and dismissed out of hand by people he's trying to communicate with.
Looney4Clooney
pretty much nailed it.

Honestly, i think the emphasis should be on EDM in general. All genres. In that supporting interesting music regardless of the genre. This micro genre niche stuff is ridiculous .

And system j, that podcast thread, this is kinda in the same ballpark. Supporting the community including the producers, the djs encouraging people to make music. Put the term pure makes me cringe.

i think he is missing the good old days when trance was trance and house was house so to speak.
Looney4Clooney
I think he misses the days where he sold records. AS someone that has made mainstream trance taking absolutely no chances in terms of artistry, i just don't think he has a leg to stand on when it comes to artistic credibility. Sticking to one thing doesn't make you credible, it makes you boring , stale and a symbol for artistic stagnation.

The commercial storm seems to have eventually past; the Trance scene has been left battered and bruised. It’s tired, jaded and lost all dignity. This storm has created utter confusion amongst the residents of the Trance community, the skills, tools and talent they had adhered over the years were completely overlooked and deemed insignificant, replaced with egotistical bullish marketing.

Most trance (and *name your genre here) artists has been totally out managed by the few commercial artist with big corporations behind them.

If you're not one of the few who want/can make music to satisfy the masses and have all the other quality's to attract the big commercial label , how big of a chance to make a living out of your music do you actually have?

And I don't think he means that all Trance should sound the same as it did in 2000, but have the same soul and imagination that many of the tracks from that time had.

The community's isn't what they used to be, it used to be about getting better and better and share your work with each other, to exchange ideas and give/get feedback. Nowadays its much more of "egotistical bullish marketing" place. So that one also true. Although TA has seen some big improvements on that lately.

They’re tired of spending most of their week satisfying social media sites due to unnecessary pressure when they should be making music. I mean making the music they actually want instated of adhering to commercial pressure. They’re falling in love with music again.

Personally I couldn't agree more, and I would like to see as much music as possible that hasn't been affected by the commercialism to get out and get the recognition it deserve.

Again the excitement is evident as we help forge a new way forward with each other’s valuable ideas and advice.

To make the best out of a situation were people who have been putting in tremendous amounts of time in something they love, come together and help each other build an environment were the scene can grow would at least from my perspective be a good thing.

There is without doubt a big deal of talent here on TA, and all over the internet and it would be terrible to see that go to waste.

So to try to collect that talent and shake life in a scene who has been overtaken by Top 40 clubs should in my opinion not be seen as a way to be egoistic, but a way to help and get help from all the people around with the same attitude and the same goal.

there was no community 10 years ago. It has only been in the last 5 years that producers have started to talk about their method. In the early 2000, nobody talked about anything. You figured everything out yourself. There was no help.

I mean he was making commercial trance. I honestly don't get it. There are artists that made the music they wanted to and did fine. JOOF is not an example.

Whatever, don´t really understand what you are talking about. However, I think it´s pointless to focus on the past and this text was written about the future so lets focus on that.

Neither is the text about JOOF

there’s no more competition between labels, and we are all one.

The moment people start to think of the bigger picture, and realize it's much easier to succeed with a goal if you are around people that are positive and works for the same thing rather than standing there alone. That's when things starts to get interesting.

The passion is gone for most everything these days and its very sad to me. Everything around me, including music, seems to be layered with aesthetic, meaningless, passive, uninspired bull. But, I guess WE are the change WE want to see, you are the change you want to see, and I in my life. That's why I seek the outlets in my life that connect me to my passion for music, love, inter-dependence on my loved ones, and over all connection to the universe around me. That's also why I tend to search the "underground" for music, and quite often I have been finding some very creative, artistic and truly soulful tunes of all kinds, ranging from "rhythmically assisted poetry" to drum and bass. what people say, find your connection and create what comes from your soul. When I find self being pulled to the giant lake near my house at 3am and I find others there, staring into the waters, I know they are feeling the same thing I am; A need to connect to something real. looooveee
Looney4Clooney
honestly dude, you could say that about the last century and a half of music. Perhaps you are suffering from some kind of anhedonia. Honestly, if the passion is gone, move on. There is about 300 years of music to explore. Thats what i don't get about people like you or joof. They whine about like that yet know absolutely nothing about anything other than their genre. Ya, any genre sustained past its prime is going to suck and be derivative.
