No way!! ECU tuning is one of the best and most efficient ways to to gain HP/TQ in any car...turbo or N/A. I'm not talking about those ty $50 eBay performance chips - I'm talking about real standalone tuning systems via AEM EMS/Hydra/Megasquirt/KPro ... There are so many parameters that you can tweak to unleash/free up hidden power.

I've done all the tuning on my Subaru with an OpenSource cable and free ECU editing software and gained a lot of power throughout my powerband. A properly tuned car will be night and day compared to a car running regular bolt ons with no tune ...

To the OP, I recommend getting good suspension, sticky tires, sway bars and then do intake/header/exhaust/CAI and tune and you'll have a proper fast RSX.

If you're looking for a header, my brother is selling a race header with electronic cutout off his rsx-s!

Was also conflicted on SRI or CAI, CAI is better from what I gather, but you run the risk of hyrdolock which something I'm terrified of! :nervous:

AEM has a one way valve that allows air to travel but no water. forgot what they called it but its been around for many years.

ps. auto performance/tuning is a HUGE money pit. dont ever expect to get your money back when you sell your car. i learned this many many years ago in the 90s.

I drive a moded 225 tt.... whats diesel.... lol

About the intake... People always say it doesn t do that much. I had one on my gti vr6 and it made my car go from normal to sounding like a monster. I did exhaust, suspension and a couple other things but nothing was better then punching the gas and watching heads turn when my golf screamed by sounding like a Ferrari. Don't buy a cheap intake, skip a couple packs of butts and buy a decent one, doesn't need to be carbon fiber or anything.

think its called a breather valve. The chances of you actually sucking up that much water are slim. If you are scared go short ram with heat shield.

- Also I had a Giac chip (ecu tuning) in my golf vr6 didn't do much. I think the difference was that I now could only pump 91 or higher. Chipping an n/a car is for racing when you are trying to squeeze every last hp out. Also mr haze aside from sway bar and chip the mods you recommended are some of the more expensive mods in which each can not be done right for under 1k, but i totaly agree suspension and tires when you have the cash are a must.

Now I only ask because I was thinking about that last year, but was conflicted on how much to spend since I heard in the end it doesn't really do THAT much, so didn't know if I was going to spend over a couple bills for a brand name one, or under a $100 and just get a generic intake.

Was also conflicted on SRI or CAI, CAI is better from what I gather, but you run the risk of hyrdolock which something I'm terrified of! :nervous:

Go to http://www.torontomazda3.com

Tons and tons of information on your car :)

You running a cobb accessport? Alot of Mazda and Subaru owners swear by them. I noticed a huge power gain on my speed3 after I flashed a stage2 map. Although OTS maps may not be optimal they are better than stock maps. I am hoping to get a custom tune done this spring. How much HP are you running?

My buddy has a GTI and everything feels really cheap inside, and the engine sounds like a briggs and stratton lawnmower.
