let me preface this by saying that I enjoy classic trance, epic, anthem, progressive--but mainly uplifting trance. I seldom like trance with vocals...and I have a keen liking to simple and beautiful melodies...that blow me away from the first listen most of the time.
hope you enjoy. let me know if you like any of them in particular :) to me, these are daily necessities.

Not gonna lie, I attribute it to getting me into the music I like now. What's great about it is that it's accessible and allows for the listener to make his/her musical choices later on when they realize how deep the EDM world really is.
So yes, I used to be one too

hahaha tough crowd..... so what in you all's venerable opinion are far superior tracks... and in what way?
I don't claim to know anything other than I know a gorgeous melody when I hear one.....
if you guys have heard of darktremors list ( www.listology.com/list/top-400-trance-tracks-all-time) and are into that, I highly doubt my ears will reverse evolve and start liking that stuff as passionately as I do the stuff now.. but hey, Im not that closed minded.... who knows.... and maybe you'll find a single gem in my list..... a lot of time and thought was put into it...
You all were obviously trance lovers long before I was...... so please give me some input on audiophile headphones for trance in my other thread...... the clowns in there are trying to say dr dre beats are....... this is not really a subjective matter as is taste in music.

The Beats by Dre. thing is a joke dude started in another thread. Nobody on TA will ever seriously tell you to get Beats by Dre. headphones. The funny thing is that people told this guy as a joke that he should get them and he actually did.
Anyway man, trance today sucks. Might as well just realize it now and save yourself the time. Trance doesn't suck, just new trance sucks. It's to electronic music what Lady Gaga et al is to popular music. The people who make it do so for the purpose of making money and there is very little artistry/creativity involved. And it's just funny for anybody to claim to be an audiophile yet listen to trance, since usually new trance is extremely digital and synthetic sounding and generally not mastered to be pleasant to the ears but just to be played as loud as possible.
I've seen this list a few times and it's always wound me up, because the guy who wrote it doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. Listing Leftfield - Phat Planet as a trance record (and then saying "arguably progressive house") is just one random example of his shocking ignorance.
Anyone with the knowledge and intelligence to write a good list of great trance records also has the knowledge and intelligence to never, ever do it.

Well, I'm going to be blunt. The songs mostly suck. The list definitely has the look of something made by someone who has only recently gotten into it. And in fairness, it's not that recency alone is a good measure of music taste so much as the fact that you have come during a time when trance is, effectively, an extinct genre. "Ocean Rain" by Elevation is a bit of a surprising addition though, in that it's seven years old and considerably different from the other artists you mention. It's certainly one of the few decent ones. Anyway, it is what it is, so it wouldn't be fair or a good use of my time for me to just lambaste the hell out of this list all day. None of the songs you list are progressive in any way though, so I'm not sure why it's mentioned.

thanks for the recommendations... I'll check them out. did any of you trance snobs even listen to any of the tracks on my list? I don't claim to be a hardcore audiophile, nor did it create / share the list to bring personal acclaim.. if you read my post you would maybe see that.
all I know is that I recognize a gorgeous melody when I hear one....(imo).. As for being an audiophile... if can guarantee that with my entry level audiophile ultimate ears triplefi 10s which retail $400, I can definitely hear way more detail and get incredibly more immersed in the music..
leave it to the real audiophiles at head-fi.org who obsess over, and make it their ultimate hobby, and profession to comparing different phones and their unique sound signatures to suggest that phones like ultrasones are the best for electronic music because of the specific characteristics they possess... ignorance is not really bliss in this case... cmon, you guys have the genre right... CARE about the sound quality!

this is true if you don't want growth or evolution.. (I am re-taking bio after 10 years haha)
diversification is also needed for the survival of a species....
seriously the only talented and creative producers made trance 10 15 years ago?
not everyone nowadays is out to make money... there are still struggling artists out there.. musical geniuses... check out jayb, soundlift, nery..... people who are passionate about the music and don't get much notice. The much easier accessibility of trance making software and hardware nowadays can bring more talent/creativity to the table than say 10-15 yrs ago, only people with connections or means could create trance.... and don't forget about the underpaid song writers who make the big names famous still and don't produce themselves anymore yet still put their name on it.
why wouldn't someone who has knowledge / intelligence about the " best " trance want to share it?
recommending / settling for sub - optimal headphones such as beats and not sharing good knowledge about premier trance WOULD be part of the reason for the dying of good trance.
you can be a part of the solution or reminisce about the glory days that'll never come back...your eardrums will never be as sensitive as they once were... your brain doesn't produce as much serotonin as before.. your penis doesn't like to have as much as it used to... the girls you can score aren't as hot as they once were.. look in the mirror at your older, more wrinkled, pessimistic, perhaps e-tarded self....
have a listen to the songs in my list... you might find some new gems as well as old.... fyi it even includes halcyon on and on and ace da brain magic waters if that'll encourage you...
