Original poster clearly stated la. Orange county is not la...in fact on a bad traffic day I could get to san francisco faster than someone could leaving from la to costa mesa. But I won't claim sb is sf...
And by sb I don't mean san bernardino, which is definitely NOT la. |
Like Josh said, many people, including the Census, consider OC part of the Greater Los Angeles area. As a matter of fact, TV & Radio Stations also consider LA & OC to be ONE MARKET, the #2 Market in the USA to be exact. As a result, many demographics are based out of this.
Just go over to Wikipedia and scoop out the definition of what the Greater Los Angeles Area is.

The team renamed: Los Angeles Angels of AnaheimMain article: City of Anaheim v. Angels Baseball LP
On January 3, 2005 Angels Baseball, L.P. announced that it would change the name of the club from Anaheim Angels to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. As stated in the club's 2005 media guide:
The inclusion of Los Angeles reflects the original expansion name and returns the Angels as Major League Baseball's American League representative in the "GREATER LOS ANGELES TERRITORY" |

Qft. The only people who worry about the whole OC isn't LA are people in LA that can't afford to live here. Get over it and move on, I live closer to staples center than half of LA County |

Most of the people I know that do that live in OC. They hate being associated with LA. These are the same people who bitch and complain when a DJ says they're playing in LA when they're actually playing at NOS.
Apparently nobody except us has heard of a "statistical area". In other words, OC and IE would not exist as economic or cultural entities without LA. They are suburbs of LA that grew because people ran out of room in the city of LA.
"LA" as global cultural powerhouse is MUCH more important than "City of Los Angeles". |

Please don't ever compare OC to the IE. OC and IE are VERY different. The IE is the where the rejects of CA. IE isn't LA no matter how much you spin it. At least most of OC is a 25 minute drive away from DTLA. As for us being a suburb, technically yeah, but there is nothing suburban about anything north of Irvine, it takes 20 minutes to drive 4 miles before 7pm. The traffic here is almost worse than downtown, especially in Little Saigon. |
