What audio interface are you using for your DAW? (pg. 2)

Major oversight and the line outs don't have the software monitor control abilities (like calibrations etc). It's nice that they include the UAD plugins but I prefer to have my hardware and software completely separate (i.e. not loose the plugins if I decide to switch to another computer or buy a different soundcard eventually etc). |
I can see where the single monitor out would be a major limitation for many people, especially in your circles, but it would still work fine for my purposes. I'm mostly interested in the inputs, dual headphone outputs with individual control (would make my headphone amp obsolete), and the UAD pres. As for the plugins, I'd probably use them primarily for real-time recording, if possible, rather than during the mixing stage. I currently use my Drawmer as an expander/gate during tracking to minimize noise bleed and as a limiter. I'm still not clear on whether or not I could track through UAD plugins in real-time with the Apollo. So, it could replace 4 rack units for me (MOTU, SSL, Drawmer, and headphone amp).
Anyway, I'm mostly just considering it at this point - I'll wait until later this year to see how the reviews are going with it (and make sure that it's not just a case of GAS) before making any decisions. Have you used it yet, or know anybody who has? |

No interface for me, |
Same here, since all my stuff is USB. But when I want to record vinyl I use an Audio 8. |

That makes sense and I thought you only had one set of monitors so it would be absolutely fine.
I don't know anyone that has bought one yet, but one of the guys at work is considering it. Apparently, you can use it for tracking real time as UAD reckon it will only have 2ms latency which you can't notice on vox.
If it really does what it says on the tin, then it;s going to be a great interface. |

Had a Fireface 400 first. Purchased it before I had a DAW. Plan was to upgrade from old G4 to iMac, then get Logic. This was a two-year plan as I could afford only 1 major piece of gear per year.
When we finally got an iMac, turned out the FF400 was not compatible with it due to new Firewire chip Apple used. A new computer was more essential than a soundcard so sadly it was the FF400 that had to go.
...
Ended up getting Sonar Producer 8 cheap on ebay (damaged box copy), so jumped back to PC platform, and just used the motherboard's onboard soundcard for a few years.
Acquired a Roland Octa-Capture last year. I could have went for a cheaper audio interface with less inputs, but I like having a mixer-less setup, due to lack of desktop real-estate.
Lowest usable buffer setting for me for just one soft-synth loaded is 96 samples. But the interface seems pretty solid and is rackmountable.
The DSP mixer is not as powerful or flexible as RME's but I hardly used TotalMix anyway. I mean if you get too creative with your routings, you just end up getting confused. |

I'm the same, really keen on seeing reviews for it. I've always wanted to add some AUD plugins to my setup and the trusty old PreSonus Firebox is getting a bit small. Three hardware synths with most likely another one soon.
Someone buy one already so we can get some feedback :p |

they are working on Win7 drivers and it is 32 bit DAW only. They estimate they will be caught up to 2012 in 5 years. |

He's taking the piss. It was because UAD were so ing slow to update their that by the time they got around it, their products were dated and virtually obsolete. |
