TC Electronics has always made quality gear, so I'm sorta surprised that the Konnekt isn't more popular. |

It's aight. Had I done a bit more research I probably would've got something else, but I picked it up back in like 2005 I think.

I really wouldn't be too upset. The 828 is the workhorse of many a project studio. There may be better interfaces now in terms of sound quality and the pre's are not the best out there but it still sounds good and is really very stable, not to mention decent value for all those different ins and outs. |

was plagued with users having a whole bunch of issues. the powercore was also known to be a nightmare for certain people. They have a really bad track record for modern audio gear that interfaces with computers. |

True.
Yeah I remember hearing about the horrible drivers from a friend right after I picked it up. He got it earlier in its life cycle, and I guess it didnt put out any sound at all. EPIC FAIL.
Thats probably why I got it for cheap from Nova a few years later.
But for me it worked fine.
The drivers and software were updated a few times right after I got it. that fixed most of the problems.
I'll probably get a Metric Halo 2882 once I can afford one.
Echo Audiofire is a nice less costly alternative too. :toocool: |

| i still can't decide between the ensemble, rme ice face, ua apollo |

if you can afford the rme, that is your best choice.
Forget the Apollo. It might be good, but anyone will tell you that almost every interface, well buying new is like ing a girl that looks at the condom and says, awww, really ? I mean not for me, i expect that , but like for you normal people, well any girl that is that down with barebacking it probably has the gay or at least herpe. New devices are not tested, you don't know what to expect. Audio is a slow technology. New devices don't offer some insane new tech. So why bother with the risk. Go with what has been tried and true.
The apogee ensemble is fantastic as well but firewire is dead. So The RME usb line is really as good as it gets. USB is not going anywhere. |

Have you seen this RME?

Can record direct to a USB device, without a PC.
That can be useful to get as quiet a recording as possible. Your PC makes a lot of noise.
That's the interface I wanted to get, but I had to settle for one 1/3 of the price. Octa-Capture is fine for my uses. Who am I kidding anyway? I'm just a bedroom-banger. |
