Hahahaha
But in all seriousness, why can't the cops go after the real crooks instead of going after all these white collar crimes |

Sigh.... Murder, Rape, Child molesters, etc. Tens of thousands of these crimes go unsolved every year because police are allocating their resources on stupid like drugs, alcohol, and other non-dangerous crimes. Comprende? |

I agree with you re: drugs and alcohol (for the most part), but government corruption is a big deal and shouldn't just be ignored. The wealthy and connected already wield enormous power within the law. The least we can do is try to keep them from going beyond it.
Plus, given the potential financial scale of white collar crimes such as Madoff's ponzi scheme or the billions wasted in medicare fraud each year, it's in our best interest as taxpayers that these criminals are caught and stopped. |

I think you are misinformed. Corruption is a big deal, and its on the rise. Unlike crime, which has dropped recently.
Corruption is the leading cause of the decrease in opportunity in America. The more opportunity that disappears as a result of corruption, the more corruption becomes an opportunity. Its a vicous cycle. Visit China |

??? you said white collar crimes and then listed no white collar crimes?
for the record, totally agree with this post.
the prosecution of drug offenses doesn't hurt white collar people, it hurts the poor, minorities, and disenfranchised.
two more points:
1) there are different departments within a police force. the people assigned to work cases like these are very different from drug enforcement, violent crimes, homicide, etc.
2) ing forgot what i was going to say :whip:
here have an image and a link:

some crappy wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incarceration_in_the_United_States
america has 5% of the population of the world and something like 25% of the world's prison population
we have a higher incarceration rate than the gulags, lol |

| separation of wealth leads to more poverty leads to more crimes. human life is important, of course, but white collar crime has many indirect effects on society that lead to death and suffering. it's also a nice revenue stream. |

| If corruption is such a problem, let's get the clowns in Congress arrested along with the lobbyists. This country is strife with congressional back door deals. One nation under the corporation #occupyTA |
