The "DAW WAR." Where Does The Current FL Sit???
View this Thread in Original format

I know that this is one of the most commonly talked about things between EDM producers, but i want to try and start this discussion fresh, and focus more on FL Studio.

I want to know if the current FL has any disadvantages compared to other prgrams. Basically, what i want to know, is if someone like AVB was to use FL, could he perfectly re-create his tracks using it to absolute precision??

Im not saying that a different DAW will help me, and i'm perfectly happy with my progress so far. I just want to know if there is any difference between FL and any other DAW's.

Any opinions are highly appreciated. (no crap replies like "a different DAW will not help you, if you suck, then you suck"), i know that and that's not why im asking this.

Cheers,

MH

I think at least 1/4 of the artists you would recognize, especially ones under the age of 30, use or have used FL studio to fully complete a major signed song (other than mastering, but maybe that too).

My point being, it is good enough. I have heard several 'names' (one of whom is specifically considered a very skilled producer amongst signed producers) who have stated it is good enough. I don't like to name drop on the forum but I can send you names if you want.

Yes, the owners of other DAWs don't constantly ask if their DAW of choice is "pro" enough.

None of the other DAWs started out there first couple of years called 'Fruity Loops' either. I think a lot of people wrote it off and made fun of it without ever trying it in the beginning and that bias is alive today.

So what. Why the f### do FLS users have this constant need to feel validated? If it works for you, grow a pair of balls and stop worrying about what the rest of the world thinks.

lol, I wasn't the one who asked the question! I am confident with using it. My skill is the only limitation so far.

Of course there are differences between DAWs - no point in asking someone here, just grab a demo and try them out for yourself

lol.

Well, Avicii was one of the people I had in mind under the 'yes you can be commercially successful using it'. However, I don't know if he still uses it now.

I will PM you a few names, though, I wouldn't rely too much on who is using it vs. who isn't.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't referring to you, just all the insecure FLS users in general.

...... i think that might actually be it.. It might just be that because I have heard so many negative comments about FL from people that have only seen it in its early days when it was bad, I subconsciously feel like there's something wrong with it, but maybe the new version is fine. Maybe its finally gotten pro, because I like it and so far it hasn't seemed to hold me back.

It seems like your attempted criticism has led me to a realisation, so thankyou....? :haha:

anyway, thanks for the input so far by everyone and you can keep adding it. i think that for the moment I have a piece of mind, especially seeing that my skills arent up there yet.

Really, threads like this don't serve any purpose and cause more problems than they're worth. Just delete this.
