His only problem with them is the fact that they are trying to pass their music off as authentic house. This may not seem like a big deal to most people, but if you look a bit closer, it makes a pretty big impact on the genre itself. If we continue to glorify this type of house, it wont be long before the roots of house music are forgotten and ignored, and instead the new generation will grow up thinking that SHM is, and was, everything house music stands for.
100% agree. if young people associate that crap with house, it gives everything a bad name.

You guys are taking something that has just recently blown up in the last year in North America and are already predicting the demise of house music. Lighten up!

Glad to see others agree with what I said:happy2:
WittyHandle, nobody ever spoke about the demise of house. I was merely pointing out that the new generation is perceiving house music in a way that is aggravating the old school players.
Basically, SHM sold out to appeal to the masses, and instead of moving out of the house scene, they decided they were going to call this new stuff house music. It's not house music.
Techno and Trance have stayed relatively the same throughout the years with a few minor exceptions, such as the BPM going way down, but they still sound like techno, and trance.
This is not house music, I think Dj Sneak has every right to be upset.

jesus... that's pathetic
Marcus007
he got so much for that
esp cuz at first he pretended like he was actually mixing then once everyone caught him he admitted to having a small part of his set pre-recorded due to "firework timing"

Just not gonna happen. They and Avicii are creating a new fanbase, not taking away from one that already existed. There will always be a market for people who love the music we care about.

good call witty.. people who get into 'house' because of the deadmau5s and the Aviciis and the SHMs might eventually dive a little deeper into the scene and get sucked in, or they'll just continue going to the bell center shows. Either way it isn't hurting house music.

You're confident that this new fanbase will give house music the proper respect it deserves? When we get older, it will be up to them to decide whether they want to toss the real house music into a corner and piss all over it. This is the first time in the history of electronic music that a genre has broken through to become mainstream. Personally, I don't want to leave house music in the hands of the pop generation.
