Not worse but you can definitely tell there's a big difference in clarity. I tend to play WAV files when I open at Beta, every now and then I use MP3s (320). They sound muffled when mixing in, mixing out into a WAV, the WAV is very clear to the point that it feels the track is coming in louder.
It might sound the same on headphones or small monitors but there is a huge difference on big sound systems. |
What do you burn your tracks in?
I've actually noticed what you just described when burning a track in windows media vs. burning a track in itunes |

man... TA on the case as usual. Heard it here before i was even told by anyone from Spundae.
Sorry folks. Hopefully we get him again later in the summer. Hopefully those of you that signed up for discount lists or purchased presales will still attend. It's spundae yo! we could use your support. |

Honestly, in my opinion, musically its better coz it allows at least Roger Shah to build his set for at least 2 solid hours with Kosho and Swedish Egil also rounding it off properly.
Then again, I'll be at the Terrace the whole time :tongue3 |

WAVs take up a lot of hard drive space. :(
Thing is, with trance now-a-days, most of it is mastered to sound good as an mp3. That next level of polish isn't there in many tracks. Not sure if techno or house has the same issue.
Granted, if I had regular paid gigs and what-not I'd definitely buy more hard drives and only d/l WAVs, but right now I don't have the luxury. |
Sorry mate, but this is nonesense. Hard drive space has never been cheaper. You can pick up a 2tb external drive from a major good brand (Lacie etc) for less than $200 now. That would be roughly 8000 hours of uncompressed PCM (wav. Do you really need more than that for you DJ set?
As for mastering, I've never heard of anyone mastering for mp3 - it's more a case of productions and producers getting sloppy now that it's so easy to make tracks combined with many labels not paying for pro mastering, but again, it's not down to "mastering for mp3".
The biggest problem with mp3's is they sound OK to the average consumer on crap consumer (beats by dre etc) but on a large club system all those faults and artifacts introduced by pretty heavy data compression (mp3 conversion) are amplified, especially when that system is good enough to show that level of fidelity (Funktion1, some turbosound, Martin audio).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Dammit, that's me not going out this weekend (unless they book someone equally as awesome in time). FFS, does anyone know why? Did he not get his visa or some ? |

I actually don't burn tracks anymore. I use a flashdrive to carry and play my choons. |

here's another GREAT idea from me...
last year he played at the W during the day for a pool party...maybe look into doing a copromotion...if the w books him again on a saturday during the day, he could make up this gig at night.
bill as a "special guest eh" |

Spundae statement: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Max Graham will not be performing this weekend at Spundae. We are working now on getting a make up date (June or July) but the show will still be going strong with ROGER SHAH (Armada / Germany) and much more....see you there!"
I am guessing it was a VISA issue or something. I don't know the deets. I'm at work and can't dive in. |

Soul clap + Pillowtalk + Thug****** 11-7
Why even attend a dif event when something like this is taking place in a nice intimate venue?? |

maybe because the genres are totally different and Soulclap has played in LA 4 times in the last 6 months? Thug****** also recently spun for Bask this year.
Pillowtalk is honestly the only one I want to see in that line up, and its more because Mikey Tello is a good friend who's played for INCOGNITO a few tiems.
So my question to you since I answered yours is, is why do you keep on trying to invite other people on Spundae's thread when you can create your own? And mind you, this is not my event, we're just hosting/playing. |
