| Yeah that was my tutu, lol. I made him wear it the last night. Although to be fair, I didn't really have to convince him. |

I'm surprised he didn't beg you for it. |

seriously dude, why? |
An interesting analogy I use for this is: You know how women dress like sluts on Halloween because they can get away with it? That's partially why. The other reason is that it makes me stand out, and people remember me from year to year. And finally, I can find other ravers very easily with this get up. Oddly enough, this started out just as a Halloween costume, that I only had because I worked at an indoor glow in the dark mini golf place where I was allowed to play whatever music I wanted as long as it wasn't offensive, so I played a lot of trance and house. |

So, just being honest here... it made approximately zero sense to have Public Enemy headlining there. But holy , that was the highlight of the weekend for me. (It helps that I'm a huge fan, but still. A quarter century of hip-hop performances and those dudes still rock it like nobody's business.) Ice-T was a nice surprise, too. Only complaint was that I wish they had more than an hour.
So glad I had an opportunity to see them.

What was it that makes demf so good? |
As mentioned before, to me it is that everyone is so nice. This was my fourth (I believe?) consecutive year, and was the first time I ever saw any conflict. Some drunk guy was fighting/bleeding and got ejected from the event. Seriously, that's the only time I've ever seen so much as an argument there. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but for as many people there are, the location, and the abundance of drunk/drugged people there... it's damn impressive.
I've ended up having a lot of random conversations with people just because everyone's in such a good mood... whether they're "altered" or not. Just a really good time. :)
There are 5 stages going at a time, so unless you're incredibly picky, you can almost always find something groovy and fun to dance or listen to.
Also eating at Plaka's in Greektown is one of my favorite things. |

| Just like David said....everyone is pretty damn nice. It feels like you can talk to anyone, and a lot of people talk to me, all different kinds of people. I also seem to make new friends everytime I go....this year I made friends with a group of ravers (all dressed similar to me) from Indiana. |

It's people like you who are totally, completely, and wholly ruining the scene, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

I agree about people being very nice there, more so than at other festivals. I sat by 4 other guys on my flight back who had went: 2 who work at 'dubspot', some production school in new york, one of djs moombhaton and played the red bull stage, and another who was friends with him and i had met briefly at the need i say more party. They all explained it to me like this: when you go to DEMF, most people have to get on a plane to go there. Once everybody does that, you arrive and most people have the mindset "i ing love this place and i ing love this music. i can't wait to come back again." so of course people are very nice.
at other festivals (coachella, edc, and so on and so forth) i've experienced large amounts of 'undesirable' types: the people who aren't really there for the music, but instead with totally ulterior motives. I'm not talking about drugs here, but instead the people who go with the hope of taking advantage of a messed up girl or even just the people who go because it's such a bro thing to go to a festival and they can't wait to tell all their bros that they went by posting it on their facebook account.
overall it was a really great experience for me. haz and i took a picture with djshire (who wasn't the only one dressed as a raver there, and while we were kickin it with him a few older people gave him props for it :p) also, shire was a pretty nice guy who didn't afraid of anything. i'll post pic later |
