Fun fact: I've done E ONCE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, and that was enough. Wasn't a bad experience at all, but having depression AND THEN having post E depression was not fun.

They all explained it to me like this: when you go to DEMF, most people have to get on a plane to go there. Once everybody does that, you arrive and most people have the mindset "i ing love this place and i ing love this music. i can't wait to come back again." so of course people are very nice.
at other festivals (coachella, edc, and so on and so forth) i've experienced large amounts of 'undesirable' types: the people who aren't really there for the music, but instead with totally ulterior motives. I'm not talking about drugs here, but instead the people who go with the hope of taking advantage of a messed up girl or even just the people who go because it's such a bro thing to go to a festival and they can't wait to tell all their bros that they went by posting it on their facebook account. |
Truth, the more effort people have to exert in getting a ticket/travelling to a festival the more freindly the crowd are generally. Theres also a length factor I reckonz, for example glastonbury is on the list of things all the cool kids do over here, but its still 5 nights of partying ing hard. i think a lot of people who would ruin the vibe just cant deal with that, whereas the 2 day weekend things they can cope with. |

I'm pretty sure "post E depression" is bull. I think people just feel that way because they're guilty about getting whacked all weekend and living like a heathen. |
I think if you really take a lot and completely deplete your serotonin, you will naturally feel depressed. I would say the actual not sleeping does more of a number on your body than anything. And if you are doing it every weekend, than , ya, your brain doesn't have enough time to get back to base level.
But if someone suffers from clinical depression, probably not a good thing to mess with your neuro transmitters. |

if you are depressed, stop conforming to the depression of society,
and get the natural high nature gets. get some natural medicine, that improves a higher self-being. |

what specifically though? people say DEMF/detroit is so awesome, but what is it specifically? and why is it so much better than other cities and their music festivals? |

I thought this has kind of been answered, but ok.
Atmosphere. Its very, very friendly at DEMF. You can talk to just about anyone. I make new friends every year that I go, as well as see ones that I made in previous years.
This year, I made friends with a group of ravers from Indiana. One of them was telling me that the Detroit scene is very nice, not as douchey as a lot of other places. As I said earlier in the thread, this is not the first time I've heard this.
There are a lot of DEMF afterparties, both ones that are part of DEMF and a lot of nice ones (typically raves full of hard dance and hardcore, oldschool basement techno, and some trance) that aren't. |

| Also, most EDM festivals these days are all commercial house/dubstep/electro'ed out, whereas DEMF may occasionally have a random smattering of that in a weekend but is generally very groovy stuff that you can't hear in that capacity anywhere else. |
