I will for sure. :)
Besides playing myself, I'm psyched as hell to finally hear Jerome Isma-Ae play live after all these years. The guy has been killing it with his productions since day 1 really. Glad he's going to get to play for a big crowd next month. |

he played the same sets at pacha as he did for asot 550 shows, i mean you cant switch it up. this dude is a complete joke in my eyes, was never really a great trance dj and now turns to house and thinks hes the like someone owes him something. trying to pull a tiesto but in no way or form was he a 1/10 of good as tiesto when he played trance. This is guy is following the money and he plays maximal crazy at trance events, thats a sin in itself.i wouldnt mind seeing the three other artists but GA has put a bad taste in my mouth, just another money hungry dj | So don't go.
Where in your post did you state anything that is unique to Gareth that hasn't actually been said about all the other headliners? Every time I click on an event by any DJ in the top tier of DJMag's Top 100, I read the same complaint. It's old. We get it. How about suggesting some up and comers that the rest of us "newbies" don't know about instead of reposting the same critique every week?
Gareth has made it quite clear in several interviews that he doesn't spin just trance anymore. When going to a "trance event" at a big show, you should know that it's not going to be true trance. I've figured that out and have only been back in the scene for a year.
Even if he is following the popular bandwagon, DJs are put in a tough spot between playing what's true to them and their roots and getting the crowd going. What use is it for a DJ to play all their favorite tracks that the crowd doesn't enjoy? There needs to be a balance.
And apparently, I'm one of those people bringing down the trance scene since I still love to hear Maximal Crazy. It's so obvious that I can't believe I have to type it, but everyone has their own taste. |

Maximal Crazy is a bad song
and you should feel bad!

I actually love sets where I can predict the next upcoming track. When I know what song is coming I can start humming the song and get louder as the song picks up momentum!
My, "duh duh duh duh de duh duh duh duh de duh duh duh DUH DE DUH" is in perfect harmony with the song.
I love nothing more than head bobbing, fist pumping and duh duh duh-ing. |

| It doesn't matter whether or not you LIKE Maximal Crazy (I personally think it's an atrocoius and abhorrent piece of music), it's the fact that Maximal Crazy is about as relevant to Trance music as Dubstep. I just can't stand when music like this is even remotely associated with trance. They're opposite ends of a spectrum. |

| To be fair, Gareth has always been about more than just trance. After his GTR days, he dabbled quite a bit in progressive house. That was what really drew me to him musically to be honest. Even his big hits were never really straight trance. |

Couldn't agree more really.
Don't get me wrong...great trance is still great trance. But crowds in general aren't going to be into the same sound forever. Look at a guy like Sean Tyas for example. This guy, even as recently as last year, was basically full throttle 138 - 140 BPM trance. He's now producing tracks at 128 BPM. So, what gives?
Its just where things are at musically now. You can play 138 BPM trance to a crowd that just doesn't want to hear music that fast....or you can incorporate new sounds into your sets and keep people happy. People assume the latter means you're selling out. Imo, it just means you're doing your job as a DJ. *shrug* |
