Maximal Crazy is a bad song

and you should feel bad!

seriously use some other song to prove your point. You'r in TA thread. drop something meaningful or go to more liberal forums.
Oh, grow up child.

I wasn't the one who brought up Maximal Crazy, just said I liked hearing it. Different strokes for different folks.

And the point was that Gareth has been very open that he doesn't play just trance anymore, even at "trance" events. Even if he wasn't as open, most headliners simply don't and everyone in the scene should know that by now.

Last, I'm in an events thread on TA - not a trance thread. The events section, as you know, has more than just trance events so it goes to follow that discussion of other genres is not prohibited.

I just can't stand when music like this is even remotely associated with trance. They're opposite ends of a spectrum.
Point is the GE has flat out said he doesn't play just trance anymore. The only people associating his sets with pure trance have no idea what trance is.

The problem is you are defending GE as producer whilst i am saying that he is not a good dj. anyways there is no need to bring more bad vibe to this thread. there are plenty more talents in this line up to have a good time. cheers

Gareth is a great DJ when he builds his dj set....when he doesn't build his DJ set and just plays track with no flow...he isn't much of a good DJ

Ex of a great gareth set....

Count me in! Havnt seen Gareth live in a while. I really like Gov's island as a venue (mostly for the beach feel & the sweet view!) I was just there yesterday for juicy NY.

i will not be paying $15 for a plain burger and 10 french fries again though, that's for sure.

I'd hold your criticism of Deadmau5.. he may not be everyone's taste but he's stayed away from the commercial fluff and he deserves that respect.

Couldn't agree more really.

Don't get me wrong...great trance is still great trance. But crowds in general aren't going to be into the same sound forever. Look at a guy like Sean Tyas for example. This guy, even as recently as last year, was basically full throttle 138 - 140 BPM trance. He's now producing tracks at 128 BPM. So, what gives?

Its just where things are at musically now. You can play 138 BPM trance to a crowd that just doesn't want to hear music that fast....or you can incorporate new sounds into your sets and keep people happy. People assume the latter means you're selling out. Imo, it just means you're doing your job as a DJ. *shrug*

If you've seen him recently, you'd just shake your head: the bastardized rock and pop bootlegs ("Smells Like Teen Spirit"), the electro bombs, and the overplayed top hits of today, the lack of flow. As a fellow DJ and producer, he's upset me with the lowest common denominator stuff he played out the last few times I caught him, which is really all it is unfortunately: a collection of music that the people leaving the Avicii and Afrojack stages can enjoy with a few new trance heads sprinkled in. For most people, it's not just a matter of "he doesn't play trance". He's gone the musical route of the Meatpacking District-style "mashups DJ", or NOW 92.3 DJs on Friday nights..

That says nothing about the rest of the lineup, which is stacked though. Blake Jarrell and Ben Gold are especially exciting and Jerome can be absolutely killer, not to mention what I know you'll bring to the stage. Still gonna try and make it for those sets at least!
