Tried that already once, didn't work for me :p

I spent three months without Power, a computer (so clearly no internet), TV, Music and not a lot of food. All i had was my roller blades and my bed.

It was not great...

I noticed after my old laptop broke I started reading way more, like 3-4 books a month (and big books at that). Then I got a new laptop earlier this year and my reading plummeted. :@

Apparently our wax ambassadors went overboard and started giving people way more than just that :p

if you have the capability to do this:

separate the computer, from personal space. what i mean is, make a room with the computer and call it the office. treat the internet, and everything you do on there, as research.

get art supplies/project supplies/resources that are there for you anytime you feel creative, or you think you are losing touch with your creative side.

prioritize creativity. anytime you have a creative though, or "outside the box" drop everything that you are doing as soon as you can, and start producing what your imagination wants you to create.

I've been so busy lately I've barely had time to use my computer. When I do, I see so many new threads on forums and so many new posts on blogs that I just close it all and read a book. Definitely enjoying reading again.

Also been attempting to not check my smart-phone so often and to spend more time exercising/going on walks/etc. I definitely feel like I've gotten sick of being so damn interconnected all the time. Having a moment to think and spend by myself is great.

That said, I also find myself missing old friends (and current) that I haven't spoken to in too long.

So, did you get your home net access back yet? Did it draw you into the web of distractions once again?

I would suggest that the amount of time I've spent arguing on here in the last week is sufficient answer to that question.

One thing I have noticed, though, is that I spent a hell of a lot less time listening to music in that month away from the computer. Now that I'm back, I've got that familiar excited-yet-pressurised feeling of "Oh God, there's so much great music I should be listening to."

With the lack of a computer/internet connection, your modernly created attention deficiency that is molded through blazing internet browsing speeds, television packages with too many channels to count and too-convenient-to-the-point-that-its-invasion-of-privacy accessibility to other people's lives will soon dwindle back to patterns where you won't need to overstimulate your brain with data. I specifically use the word data on purpose, because a lot of what we see streaming the web is simply observation or happenstance that has no relation to our own lives (i.e. facebook status updates).

I went through a similar phase a few years ago living at my Dad's place, where he had very few/none of the present day instruments we all take for granted to kill time (he was old-fashioned, what can I say). It felt good to finally step out of the digital world and realize, life can be a little more relaxing if you don't try to cram your attention with constant updates and going's on's that really don't mean .

Fair points and absolutely true, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of what I currently do that is related to the Internet directly. So what do I gain by getting rid of it? I get a different level of fun, but nonetheless, it's still entertainment.

I'm perfectly capable of living a balanced life without needing to cut things out, though I could always use an 8th day in the week.

Hey, I need a couple of 8th days. Do you have any at a good price? I've been looking for some, for a long time.
