This is just so true.

I can't remember the last time I spent 24 hours without internet connection, and I gotta say, I AM addicted.

There, I made my confession. Maybe I'll have to bid farewell, maybe then I'll become a better person.

the key is moderation...like anything else in life. you can abuse just about everything to a detrimental point if you have an obsessive personality.

Life is too good to be spent without a computer.

I still remember my old 14k4 modem, which was sort of the same as no internet. Now I think maybe it was good that high speed internet wasn't available back then... On the other hand, I would have spend less time in the record shops.

Bump. No Internet in my new place until the 20th and again I'm feeling a lot better for it. I'm even going to sleep earlier. I really wish I could get a broadband package that only gives me a connection for, say, three days a week.

We use our internet mostly for streaming now, which is funny because we had all these issues with the cable lines in our house and it took 3 months and 3 different technicians to get it sorted out (in the end we actually fixed it ourselves!!). In the meantime I had spoken with the retention department and got 60 bucks knocked off our bill AND better cable + internet services - and now all we really use is the internet when we have hundreds of channels we're practically stealing. Lol. you, Rogers! :D

I will say though, that smart phone technology is the real productivity killer. in internet in my pocket, . It is definitely a brutal compulsion.

I don't own a smartphone for that exact reason.

I cut the cable at home, so now I just have Netflix or HBOGo (friend's account, of course).

ESPN was always a huge time-waster/distraction for me. Watching sports pundits repeat themselves over and over and over. To be honest, I think sports itself is a huge distraction.

The Internet has wasted a lot of my time, too, but I've cut down. It's one thing to read the news, essays, etc., but just surfing around is ing pointless. And yes, I'm reading, writing, and working out a lot more as result.

I don't know moderation, so it's either get rid of the distraction completely or fail. That goes for pretty much everything in my life.

I love bedside streaming when I'm falling asleep. I don't believe in tv in the bedroom (total horny killer, imo), so it's nice to be able to watch on my device the odd time I'm not totally tired/ready for sleep. Recently re-watched all of the good seasons of X Files, and now onto Star Trek: TNG. :D

My g/f is the same way; uses her iPhone to watch Netflix in bed. It's gotta be hard on the eyes :eyespop:
