I'm sure this thread has been done before, but it's worth doing again. This is a thread dedicated to lush early '90s "intelligent" techno: think B12/Artificial Intelligence/etc. This is basically the first post-Detroit techno made by Brits, who began to put increasingly experimental and undanceable material on their B-sides, which eventually lead to the dawn of IDM. Some of the most beautiful electronic music ever made comes from this era.
I made this basically so as not to clog up Adam420's excellent melodic techno thread.

I think your thread is a great resource for upfront, dancefloor techno. This stuff is clearly a historical departure point from techno towards IDM, and I think it would just clog up your thread to put it all in there.
Also, you asked me for defunct, "vinyl only" labels, and I don't know about that because I don't buy or collect vinyl. All of the stuff I've just posted was released on CD.

This thread refers to british techno from ca 92' to 96'. What makes this era is so special is that the music has all the emotion from detroit techno, yet has a very british futuristic edge, as this comes from a era when electronic music still was largely unexplored and the UK was on the forefront of pushing boundaries. This era also reminds me a bit of mid 90's drum & bass like Photek - the stuff was so advanced for it's time, yet it became the sound of the future that never happened.
Probably my favorite from this era. I love the strings so much. I think this may be currently my favorite track ever.
Pretty obscure album by Stasis, even though it was released on ART. "Travellor" is by far my favorite track on there, but it's not on youtube.
I feel bad for posting a "retro EP", but Sven Weisemann clearly knows his stuff. This couldv'e easily been released in 1994. Great EP.
@Adam, I also posted this in the melodic techno thread - Likemind was a short-lived label with all the main ART/B12 players and has some incredibly good stuff, pretty damn expensive to get though.

Still works great today, I saw a clip on youtube where Marcel Fengler plays this at Labrynth.

I had no idea this was IDM. Always assumed these types of early 90s british productions is where labelled as "electronica" because they werent necessarily easily describable dance music.
