laff. everyone thinks when a cel3b dies they have some incite as tto their life, just because ur "known" this is just a cycle of the same wen any celeb dies:

1.omg noes this thats dead
2. supposed life philosopies/ and deep analytics as to y they killed themselves.
3. mentioning of works blah blah.

its the same cycle of everytime, chill out bugs eating away at ur culo dont care whether u produced prometheus or were a bunm ass **** off the street.

Holy . Does your mother usually start drinking at 9am, or only while she's pregnant?

he was a person that changed the world
he did not seem to have any external signs that would point to suicide which is really ing rare if have done any research on the topic.
And yes, i am curious because it is a mystery to me and when i find something that is puzzling , i wanted to know.

He wasn't a celeb. He was an artist. He was known from his work, not because he was famous. The world lost someone that has contributed alot. Could of contributed more.

Hal's posting of inoperable brain cancer would be the most logical reason. Individuals who have been diagnosed with a terminal disease will most always look at different scenarios in their minds. I don't want to suffer anymore, I don't want my family and my friends to see me suffer. You're in a lose lose battle either way. It sucks when you have to make these type of decisions.

Tony was an icon and will be truly missed. Fortunately we can still live through all of his work and remember him for who he is.

Here's some info, by the way: Revealed: Top Gun director Tony Scott 'was told he had inoperable brain cancer' before bridge suicide as last picture reveals torment (Daily Mail, sorry)

Actually, I lost a step-grandfather the same way (driven to suicide by inoperable brain cancer), the only difference is that he shot himself in the head.

This may be a stupid question, but what exactly is it that kills a person who jumps from a bridge, assuming they're over a body of water? Is it true that hitting water from such heights can shatter bones? Would it knock someone unconscious, or what :conf:

Near-terminal velocity + surface tension, I would imagine. It was rather an epic flop, not unlike Domino. ololol :/

Depending on the height of the bridge, it's like jumping from a building and landing on the sidewalk. Being a major shipping channel, there's the reality of being run over by a large ship (assuming you're alive an conscious after the impact). I read that several people have jumped off the bridge and none survived.

It obviously depends on the height and how you fall.

If the minimum conditions are met, the shock should - at the very least - knock you unconscious, and passing out underwater definitely means you're a goner unless you're extremely lucky. This seems to happen all the time here in Brazil with people who jump off bridges for fun. If it's too high, then I reckon the impact by itself should be enough to off you.

There was a doco on the Golden Gate Bridge that mentioned the countless suicides that took place there, and I remember there's some sort of explanation similar to what I said. I could be wrong though.
