| Being killed by a hail of bullets outside the Empire State building is far from the worst way to go. Add to that the pleasure of spraying your ex-boss' brains all over the wall, I'd say this guy had a pretty good day. Too bad about the lame-aimed cops thoug. |

the new testament has so many inconsistencies between the gospels that just to analyze the document in terms of what one says and what the other says, it cannot be all true. And if it isn't all true, then how much isn't. Do these inconsistencies somewhat trouble you as to what the actual word of god is ?
There is actually no direct evidence that Jesus even existed but you don't even have to go that far. The books themselves are so riddled in contradictions with itself.
So the old testament i think even you would agree is barbaric, not only condones but demands rape, genocide and slavery. The new testament is so riddled with inconsistencies written by people decades later. No first hand account. No actual people that knew him.
Why is evolution a lie ? One only has to look at the recent studies with bacteria that evolve to be resistant against antibiotics. Perhaps not a perfect theory, but there is so much evidence that to ignore the evidence to me seems clear that truth is not something you care about.
It troubles me that your god has blessed you with a brain which is capable of critical thought which i think he would want you to use. But the way you seem to chose what to hear or read so that your theocratic views don't implode somewhat antithetical to what god would want you to do if he were real.
Further more, why do you bother bringing it up. You must know by now it never goes anywhere. You spoil real topics by bringing your spirituality into threads that don't fall under the realm of your spiritual reach. At least not to others. Why is it so hard to respect that. |

I apologize I couldn't get to you sooner. You deserve a prompt response.
The Bible is a holy book to those who think with purity. I'm not judging you at all, but if someone thinks something is negative, then they're most likely negative themselves. you're probably a good person though.
who in their cotton picking mind would revolve their life around a book that is only filled with negativity? The Bible has gone through centuries and still has relevance today. People turn to it for guidance in terms of their identity, morals, and a search for answers. People have been transformed for the better because of this compelling book. If the Bible condones rape, genocide, and slavery, then I might as well get as far as I can from christianity.
How many times does the Bible say to "love your neighbor as yourself." If that's a negative command from God, then I have nothing to say. |

| but there are both. More bad than good. All is considered the word of god. And she didn't leave a guide to how to follow it. There is nobody on this planet in a civilized society that could follow the bible as is and not be thrown in prison for life. So you have to pick and chose and to me, that demands a little explanation. Who decided what is important, what isn't. |

I don't have all the answers for you dawg. No one who takes the Bible literally would stone someone to death, especially when it's countered by the command to live in peace with each other. If you consider that a contradiction, then that's your perspective mate. I view that as a positive commandment overshadowing a violent but just one.
I can bring you to the fountain through the work of God, but only you can drink the water. I just want to be humble at all times. |
