the new testament has so many inconsistencies between the gospels that just to analyze the document in terms of what one says and what the other says, it cannot be all true. And if it isn't all true, then how much isn't. Do these inconsistencies somewhat trouble you as to what the actual word of god is ?
There is actually no direct evidence that Jesus even existed but you don't even have to go that far. The books themselves are so riddled in contradictions with itself.
So the old testament i think even you would agree is barbaric, not only condones but demands rape, genocide and slavery. The new testament is so riddled with inconsistencies written by people decades later. No first hand account. No actual people that knew him.
Why is evolution a lie ? One only has to look at the recent studies with bacteria that evolve to be resistant against antibiotics. Perhaps not a perfect theory, but there is so much evidence that to ignore the evidence to me seems clear that truth is not something you care about.
It troubles me that your god has blessed you with a brain which is capable of critical thought which i think he would want you to use. But the way you seem to chose what to hear or read so that your theocratic views don't implode somewhat antithetical to what god would want you to do if he were real.
Further more, why do you bother bringing it up. You must know by now it never goes anywhere. You spoil real topics by bringing your spirituality into threads that don't fall under the realm of your spiritual reach. At least not to others. Why is it so hard to respect that.
I find it amusing to mention, among friends or strangers, whomever, that there isn't any real evidence Jesus existed. It simply sends people into a raging fit. Jesus lived in the time of prophets. Everyone and their mother's goat was a prophet. Plenty of people resembled Jesus and the things he said. The fact that people cling on to ancient mythology to help explain the difference between right and wrong is simply appalling and fascinatingly pathetic.

did the writers of the bible exist? some of them lived thousands of years before jesus was born. you see what I'm saying homie.

Far be it from you to doubt the existence of something!

Matthew, do you believe in dinosaurs, or did God just stash bones in the Earth to test your faith in His Word?
I don't believe in birds or midgets, personally, but I try not to let it cloud my worldview.

yes, dinosaurs existed and were made by God.
one of my favorite verses from the bible:
"The fool says in his heart, there is no God" - Psalm 14:1

I like this one:
"I am weary of all my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears." -Psalm 6:6
Dude sleeps on his wet couch! LOL!

Psalms is the book of sorrow and repentance. The authors remind me how fragile life is.

Except they are all anonymous. The names in your beloved bible, gospel according to _____ , those were added much later.
Do you find it strange that someone that has no interest in religion seems to know more about your religion than you do ? And i don't consider myself part of that movement that attacks religion in that i do not care. But when you present fiction, well it is annoying. If religion could just stay the away from me, i would be happy. But , unfortunately, there is a little quip in the new testament regarding how one should share the joys of jesus, or he will burn in ever lasting fire. I mean imagine someone going up to you , someone doing what is commanded and says, hey you should be into this thing i can't support in any way or you will burn. The religious need to stop forcing their beliefs on the sane.
Check this guy out matt. He did the whole seminary study university focus on theology. He never set out to prove god doesn't exist. He just did so much research that pretty much makes you question anything in that book of yours. This isn't opinion. Merely doing the work and noticing all the errors inconsistencies and bs, He isn't contested on his research by anyone including still religious scholars that study theology.
If you are too lazy to read the books which go into much more detail

I only watched the first 8 minutes but the whole argument is based off of hypothetical, but insists this is fact. this is no different than what the atheists hate about religion.
I'm not going to say that it's impossible...but atheism is getting to the point where not only is it becoming it's own 'religion' but they're insisting on shoving it down other peoples throats too.
silly humans.

he questions the legitimacy of a book that has so many inconsistencies. The inconsistencies are fact. You can do the work yourself if you want. And the natural train of thought would lead one to question, well if there are inconsistencies, some that are pretty ing big, someone is wrong. And if someone is wrong, how wrong, how often. It makes this holy writ not so credible as some unaltered source which people claim is the word of god. And since the entire religion is based on this holy book, a book that seems somewhat full of ing contradictions regarding birthdays, what people said , who was who's father, well I don't understand why you don't believe in other mythology that is equally unfounded and as the french say bull de .
If religion would stop interfering in affairs for which they don't belong, perhaps the voice of reason would not have to be so forceful. Atheism is merely an acknowledgement that there is no evidence. It isn't predicated on the idea that there is no god, only that there is no evidence for god. Rather open ended. An atheist would be rather easy to convince. There just is no evidence. Nothing. And given there is no evidence, you wonder why people get annoyed when others feel they know what god things and want to force that on you ?
