Because it's the biggest digital download site for DJs, by a massive margin. Not really hard to comprehend at all.

Because they don't agree with a bunch of raving fan boys on a forum?

Because it shouldn't take 2 months to answer a simple question sent to the customer support.

Almost every company that has the monopoly in whatever industry it happens to be in usually has the tiest customer service. It's normal these days. Mo money mo problems.
Woony
While many of Beatport's policies ing suck I've never had a problem with their customer service.

So you expect record labels to retract exclusivity deals with the biggest online sales platform for their music... because the customer support sucks?
Bierheld
In any case, I don't think you can really blame the beatport management for not checking if every one of the millions of records they sell are categorized to the standards of whatever musical fan base they could be offending.

In fairness, if you read this link, you'll see they are aware of this problem: https://beatport.uservoice.com/foru...se-genre?page=1

The issue is basically that the labels themselves get to choose what category the music goes under. Beatport offer a limited amount of choies, but even if they increase the categories, there's nothing to stop labels continuing to brand their own music as progressive house.

The issue is basically that nobody really knows what "progressive house" is, anymore. This guy Aeonism doesn't know what progressive house means, and yet he seems to think he makes it, so he's going to continue to categorise his music as progressive house and the problem will go on.

More like how they became the biggest in the first place.

Exactly. It's a structural problem, they have to deal with tons of music that doesn't always fit existing paradigms. You can apply some patchwork here and there, but it's always going to be an issue for someone. Progressive house is hardly an exception.

I think people just need to accept beatport for what it is, it's never going to shovel up a custom selection of all the sounds and music you happen to like. There's not going to be a quality filter. It's just there to provide the wares, and you're always going to be better of doing your own digging. If you do the indiscriminate signing policies will only benefit you.

I noticed that as well and I agree completely. When I go to the "progressive house" section I wanna hear some uplifting beauties but they're putting in what I would consider just house and even like funk-house at times. Its not how I want that category to be and its against what I've learned that progressive house should be.
