Since you asked
About as powerful as the 8 core Mac from 2009.
Also the speed is for the processor of which you have one.
The Mac pro has been awful bang for buck since the 2010 8 core.
The iMac seems to be the only thing worth buying at the moment unless like their laptops, the ram has been soldered on. Not sure if that is the case. |

You can add and remove RAM yourself. |

for now.
Any how , your computer will last a while. I just think they charge too much for essentially the same thing they were selling 2 years ago. And with thunderbolt and the imac having 2 ports, the imac is technically more expandable than the mac pro. The only issue with imacs for me at least is that i require minimum 2 screens and they must match.
I wish you would of asked this before your purchase so I could tell you how to live your life. |

There's a company called Hazro selling the same 27" IPS screen that's used in the iMac for under 400 here.
I know I'm getting one. |

It doesn't look anything like the iMac at all. Just uses the exact same screen. They buy it in just like Apple/Dell/Whoever do. |

what is the point. If it isn't aesthetically the same, then it doesn't work. The point is that a work space should have a certain chi to it. HAving mismatched screens is just awful. I cannot and will not work on 2 screens that aren't the same. It is beyond ghetto. |

That's because you're gayer than a gay thing.
The point is that you get exactly the same screen, so you're not look at differing contrast/colour/brightnesses. Which really does my head in.
And it's 3 x cheaper than the Mac screen. So ner. |

Are you one of those people who won't eat any food that's touched any other food on the plate?
Also, do you own any white hoods? |

nope
I don't think there is anything particularly obsessional with having 2 screens that match. Perhaps aesthetic consistency is not a concern for someone but this is about as basic as having a couch set where 1 is not the right colour or style.
And since i spend 10+ hours in this environment, how it looks and feels is rather important.
And to answer the lord, it isn't the same screen. It isn't the same dimensions and it is a distraction. The only way it would work would be to have 2 of those and the imac in the centre to offset that inconsistency but since they probablty don't have thunderbolt ports, that isn't a choice.
I honestly find anyone running a studio where you have like 1 screen and then another next to it a different size or colour ridiculous. They are so cheap. It just shows , to me anyways, a lack of care for details. Sure this isn't music related but it is art. And art is about balance. And having 2 monitors that are not the same, that is , not for me.
Like having a car with different wheels. Or wearing 2 different shoes. You would think that is silly. So is having 2 different screens. for me. |
